Bedrock Give leaderboards a purpose

Alright so please book hate on this statement right here, but aren't leaderboards a little bit... pointless? I mean it's a huge flex on your friend and the community... but I mean... is there any point? It's kinda like the whole level system itself. I mean if you are like charxzz and are top of a lb then sure it's pretty good, but nobody really cares if you are 48th on lucky islands duels leaderboard.... I say, add some stuff that come with being on a leaderboard so ppl notice you in lobbies even if you're no high or on a big one. My ideas include; 50-25 on lb "whatever game" top player 24-4 "whatever game" leaderboard pro and 1, 2 and 3 "whatever game" 1 2 or 3. Also if you were anywhere on the leaderboard you could get a free cage and maybe a buddy or a win effect. I am not good of thinking ideas for cosmetics (that's @Reesle's job) This is one idea and the other (as suggested in the comments) is the number of the spot you are on and the leaderboard you are on to be your prefix. These are both ideas so tell me what you would like to see or if you have your own idea for a prefix to do with the ranking. Please no hate, happy new year and have a good evening or day.

Not everything has to have a particular purpose. Not to mention that if players who are #50 or higher in any leaderboard get rewards for it, what's the point of actually actively competing when so many different people have a 'special' title that it becomes a common sight.

I have suggested before to give players who are in the top ~3 a special prefix, but I believe that should really be it. Again, not everything needs to have a particular purpose. Leaderboards are generally there to just show off.

You can't force people to respond and explain their opinion. A disagree reaction should say enough, they disagree, for some particular reason. Some people don't feel the need to respond, as it takes time and it isn't a priority. You should probably refrain from constantly tagging people asking them to explain themselves in your suggestion threads.

I was also thinking of a prefix, maybe just a "Leaderboard" prefix since adding a prefix for each number would be a bit much.

Ye tbh I wasn't really thinking over the prefix bit so I would split up 50-25 being leaderboard and 24-1 being top leaderboard maybe. Like this I you agree and put the angry face if you disagree

Yeah I think this is the most ideal way to go about the prefixes

For me personally it would be a dream to get onto at least #50 on a leaderboard. It would be kind of disappointing to finally make it onto a leaderboard only to not get a prefix while other people higher up on that same leaderboard do receive one; so I agree that there should be a “Leaderboard” prefix and an additional prefix for the top section of the leaderboard

I can imagine leaderboard players being biased towards the idea of getting onto a leaderboard being easy, which is fair enough considering their perspective, but I don’t think it’s simply that easy…

Also, those who do get the prefix aren’t all guaranteed to use it at the same time; some players might prefer a more personalized prefix (i.e. from a bundle), or switch between various prefixes over time; it depends on the person I guess

Getting on some leaderboards is extremely difficult. For instance, for Eggwars squads you need to get around 8000 wins to get on. Additionally, your perspective of it being common to be on a leader board is extremely flawed. I don’t think the average player has thousands of wins in a single game and grinds every day. The leaderboards require a lot of effort to get on especially the more popular ones like Eggwars or Skywars.
I also disagree with the fact that you believe adding a leaderboard prefix will make it less competitive. Many people grind games to get on leaderboards to increase their status. A new, exclusive prefix may prompt a huge number of players to grind. This would increase cubecraft’s active community because these players would come back in order to achieve their goals. This will actually make the leaderboard more competitive because it adds an incentive. This incentive being a leaderboard prefix requires constant upkeep which makes the current leaderboard players want to grind in order to maintain it while newer players grind to get the prefix.
I suggest giving leaderboard players placed 50-25 the prefix “(whatever game) Leaderboard.” Players 25-4 should be “Top (whatever game) player.” Finally I believe the top 3 should have “lb (whatever game) 1st, 2nd or 3rd.”
If they are on multiple leaderboards they should get Leaderboards+.

I agree with this.

I'm 2nd on Solo SkyWars on Java but we don't get rewarded. I only think you should give this to Top 20 or something. If you're 186th for example no one would care anyways. With a prefix it should say which place you are, not top 10-20 or like that, that'd be ugly. Saying the place you are on the leaderboard looks better. Also cool cosmetics would be good too. Playing this game for years. If you go pass people on the leaderboard it's the only award. It should be also Java, not only on Bedrock.

I never said I didn’t want there to be a prefix in general, I just think for #50 onwards is a bit unnecessary. I just think that if they were given cosmetics, it should be kept special by only giving them to the top 10 or top 5 leaderboard players.

I agree with this and was wanting to make a thread about this myself.

I was thinking of players in top 50 get a number corresponding to their rank shown above their heads. Just like players when people see the tags. And as well as that the players get special bundles given to them while they are on LB however as soon as they loose the LB they lose these benefits

I agree with the suggestion of tags only going up for the top 50. I also like the idea you brought up of giving higher players cosmetics other than a prefix.

I don’t really think the prefix should show the position for this reason except for the top 3. I suggested earlier players ranked 50-25 are given the prefix “(whatever game) leaderboard.” Players 25-4 should be given “Top (whatever game) player.” Finally, only the top 3 I believe should be numbered. If u fall out of these groups, you should be down graded. For example if you were 2nd but fell to 10th, you would be downgraded from 2nd ->3rd->Top (whatever game) player. If u fall off the leaderboards, you would lose the prefix. This avoids the problem of having people who grind new games for one day, get on leaderboards, and then fall off the next day.

I agree or it could be better than to congratulate the 50 in lb give them a small gift. Although I had in mind that restarted the lb for the new players, maybe everyone disagrees but it would be better

Ye I was kind of thinking maybe a monthly leaderboard alongside the endless one would be GREAT. Especially as someone like @ignsinf being top of the ffa lb for ages, to get some variety would be nice

Yes that would be nice however the gifts would have to be of less value if it was a monthly or seasonal basis as it’s easier to climb on such leaderboards

Not a specific amount, nothing guarantees anything. If it's considered a great idea by the team and worth spending their precious time on, it will be implemented. Also, moderators do not have a say over this, they are part of the moderation team, not production team.

I can only partly agree with this. I think there could be 2 prefixes given for certain places on the leaderboard. [Leaderboard] for top 50 and [Top 1] for top 1. But what if someone loses their position on the leaderboard? Will the role get removed? Or do they keep it?

Thats why I think that its a better idea to give a special wineffect or something like that to people who ever reached the leaderboard.

But honostly i dont see a point in this. To get on the leaderboard there isnt a real amout of skill required. Its just displaying how much time you have to grind.

It’s more of an incentive for new players to grind it out. Or have the live for that game mode.

Like when they see someone like charxz at 50k and think this isn’t possible and not fun to grind for they may get something that gives them a bit of traction like getting an exclusive bundle or some form of content exclusive to LB only
