Blocks Lucky Blocks drop a number of random amounts of blocks. Randomization is used to determine the outcome of opening blocks lucky blocks. Different drops are believed to have different drop rates based on a system of weights. However, the exact values of these weights is not known by the general public and is probably kept secret by the developers. My goal was to use experimentation and sampling to speculate what these weights might be and what they might be effected by. By sampling the outcomes of blocks lucky blocks, we can create a probability distribution for the various distinct outcomes.
The following data sample was taken from December 16 to December 21, 2023. Game mode and voting options were not held constant. A total of 275 drops were recorded. 3 Bedrock blocks is a known outcome that occurred 0 times during these trails.
Conclusions:
There is strong evidence supporting that blocks lucky block drops are weighted at many different various weights. The sample size is too small to find a common denominator to solve for the values of these weights, but there should be enough data to approximate the relative probability of the drops. On average, players receive 13.975 blocks from blocks lucky blocks. However, it is only possible for them to receive 3, 8, 12, 16, or 24 blocks.
This is the first of a new series I’m going to call “Lucky Islands Experiments“ for lack of a better name. This will likely focus on data samples of lucky block drops in order to calculate drop rates. My goal is to finally figure out the loot tables for lucky blocks, create a comprehensive lists of all lucky block drops, and figure out how voting options affect lucky block outcomes. I hope you guys enjoy.
