It'd be ironic if this one were locked for it being a petition... (it isn't a petition btw)

Petitions are great and all, but there's one huge flaw: A petition is basically asking for something from the management, without even necessarily giving any reasons to why. Your only "argument" would be the amount of people who would've signed the petition. I think you can see why this isn't the right way to go about asking for something, right?

Well in petitions you would almost always give reasons to why it should be changed. I can understand one getting locked if it’s just like change this.

At that point, it'd be a waste to do so as you may as well make it a proper suggestion. What you're describing would be a suggestion with a poll that would only let you select for "Yes" (or something similar) and nothing else.
(Remember: A petition is something which you'd sign if you want what's on it to happen. There's no "No" option)

I don’t really understand what your saying. Just because you are giving reasons doesn’t mean it’s not a petition. I don’t think I have ever seen a petition without reasoning.

"MAKE CUBECRAFT 1.12"
Poll:
o Yes
o Why not?
o DO IT

This does happen on the forums, I also think it's forbidden because people don't know the difference between a normal poll and a petition (also there are many polls that don't make sense at all, which sometimes could ruin the idea of having a poll)

But back to the thread, I like the idea! +1

Aight, I'll show you what a petition looks like:

Although this may look pretty bootleg (because it is), this is effectively what any petition is. People sign up for them to reach a number goal in order to make something happen. Reasons don't have to be listed, as it's optional.
Nobody can comment on them, and you can't "vote" against it either since that's how petitions work.

Suggestions on the other hand, are brought up ideas which are available for feedback form anyone. People can vote for and against it if they choose to. This is where arguments are pretty much a necessity if you want to convince people to support your suggestion. If people don't like it at all, they'll be able to vote for so & you'll get comparable numbers.
A suggestion could get, for instance, 10 votes for no and 100 votes for yes. It's probably a good suggestion, right?
If a petition gets 100 signatures, it doesn't automatically mean it's a good petition. If people had the option, for all you know, there could easily be another 100 against the petition.

Ok but I still think that petitions should be allowed. Theres really nothing wrong with it tbh. If people disagree with it they can say that in comments.

In A Box In San Francisco
A Poll with the votes set public is like a mini-petition
Except staff can add a no feature to it
Meanwhile a petition there is no answer for no
So he responses will always have more agreeing then disagreeing

Also if something is against the rules
Think they have a reason for this
I will tag @Marco Slater here in case they happen to know why it is against the rules and if they feel so inclined potential changing them

Suggestions are one thing; petitions are another. Petitions are basically just an aggressive suggestion. The difference is that one is just an idea posted on a thread and one is actively rallying support from the community with the assumption that management will give them what they want with enough support. In the past, petition threads have usually been used to rally hate against a member of staff or the server in general. Here's a great example: https://www.cubecraft.net/threads/demote-caliocean-read-for-more-details.6815/

We're happy to let you suggest things for the server. We love suggestions. I like to think that I'm pretty smart and creative, but no one's more creative than a collective of thousands of different minds, all with their own ideas. Even if we don't like an idea, it at least makes us see a certain part of the server, community, etc. differently.

We don't, however, support petitions. We don't promise changes to the server of any kind, and the premise of a petition is this misinformed idea that enough signatures will result in action. That said, if you have a suggestion, post it and the community will speak their minds.
