this is an old idea from not long ago but im expanding the idea a bit
In duels there need to be a fun new set of gamemodes by all the other armor stands for duels. there can be mini-game duels based on games such as skywars, eggwars, blockwars, etc. instead of having 8 10 or 12 players they are simplistic 2 player games.
for example in an eggwars duel there will be 3 islands:
2 player islands opposite of each other (each player gets a lv2 gold generator and a lv 1 iron generator)
1 (or more) for a middle
the reasoning for the lv 2 gold generators is for easy obsidian giving the game more time to expand and become complex/diversely strategic.
all islands will have assorted generators. (middle with 2 maxed diamond generators and 1 maxed gold generator)
You can select these duels using an armor stand located by all the others but it will stand out for being way more exciting than all other duels.
This can either have its own lobby or just be a new type of duel eitherway i think it would need a leaderboard and statistics of its own, so people can compete.
If it does get its own lobby however each game type should have its own armor stand gui and map selector. but i seriously think that this wouldent quite fit into a simple armour stand in the pvp lobby.
it will act like normal duels where you can wither left click to simply join a random map or right click with a rank to select a map.
Game types:
sky-wars (three islands one for each player and a middle all having chests)
egg wars (already explained)
block-wars (two players compete in a agme of either core or ctf (two armor stands containing these will stand next to eachother)
ffa (whoever gets the most kills in 3 minutes wins in duels maps)
arguments for block wars: Block wars would work perfectly in core its a good thing that in being killed you should lose some points off your core, if you die and the enemy has a chance to deal damage that's fair and resonable, you can agree with me if you want you won't die.
A couple seconds (10s-15s) of respawn time without mining fatigue is enough to put 1-3 damage into the enemy core and if they kill you again when you respawn more time its fair enough to assume that they will deal more damage FAIR(remember the core has a cooldown on how much you can attack it at once in normal block wars.
in CTF if you are killed by your base Yes they will get the flag THEY KILLED YOU! you just have to make a return by killing them taking the flag just the same and possibly doing better to protect your flag. You have (i'm suggesting 3 minutes per duel) minutes to turn the game around if you get to a bad start, it isn't game over if you let your opponent slip with the flag once.
