Issue
Moderators have had the ability for a while to create private games, and it's been a debated issue. The main concern with giving other players permission to do so that I've heard is simply that there isn't enough server space to allow for many servers to be taken up by private games. Given this issue, it seems like it would be impossible to give these perms to a set purchasable rank, or plus rank, because it would just crash servers, or there would be none available. That said, there are communities like Cubecraft Ranked, Clans, and CCGN Community Events (no link for this one, but it's semi-exempt from this post anyway because its owners are already a mod and a helper), that would benefit so much from being able to use private games for tournaments and such. Even private lobbies would be a good idea, because large tournament parties have been known to crash lobbies.Solution
External community organizers, such as @Dreamer and @Taxy, should have the ability to host private games.
This would cause hardly any strain on the server, as there are very few ECOs, and they don't host events excessivelyExternal community organizers, such as @Dreamer and @Taxy, should have the ability to host private games.
- It would not be too difficult to implement, as ECOs are already known, and they could just be given the permission individually or an invisible ECO rank could be added
- This would make the event experience for players and hosts much easier, right now it takes multiple attempts to even get a lobby that doesn't crash, let alone finding a game
- Private lobbies/games would improve the QOL for even noncompetitive players, because lobbies will be more stable. In a tournament today our party crashed 2 or 3 lobbies, that's 50+ random players who had their experience on the server hurt indirectly
- It would free up more moderator time, as sometimes mods help with this by joining a party and creating private games. I've even done this with a mod myself (@Ducky )
