I can agree with everyone who disagreed with this thread. And by a long shot
The punch bow is far from an extremely overpowered item in the game, considering placing blocks behind you/in front of you makes it useless. (As the arrows can't reach you/deal more kb than the distance between you and the blocks). The bow itself is an excellent friend of you when you can use them yourself, it's cost isn't that low either: being the same as a diamond sword and 2 pieces of iron gear; 2 notches and an iron chest plate. Those items could in some cases be way more useful than a bow.
I spent 15 minutes farming materials just to get hit once and knocked off
15min farming on a lvl three diamond gen gives you 360 diamonds. I'm not sure what you were thinking that you'd be running that close to an edge with that amount of diamonds after 15 minutes, which is more than enough time to get a punch bow. It wouldn't be bold to say that it just your fault and not some unbeatable way too overpowered item. I assume the same would have happened if a leather dude sneaked behind your back and hit you once (or twice since you have high ping)?
How am I supposed to counter an unfair bow? I am not the most skilled EggWars player, and after preparing to fight someone getting just bowed off can be such an annoyance. Not everyone that plays EggWars is a tryhard and can always be looking out for every little detail.
You're not countering "an unfair bow," you're simply playing late game Eggwars, in which if you don't assume that
everyone else might have a bow and has the time to farm, it just shows a lack of experience on your part and not that bows are Op. There's no "insane trick" or skill that you need to learn to realize that punch bows are a part of pretty much every long Eggwars game, and they have been for
years. And if you can't always "be looking out for every little detail" I have a small suggestion for you- if it's been more than 15 (especially if those 15min were just farming), people very likely have a bow.
I am completely aware how annoying bows can be but since I read this:
Having to face a person who just spams a punch bow isn't exactly fun
No, it isn't. That being said "bow spamming" is NOT close to being the biggest issues with bows
xHakan is , but someone who really knows how to use a bow is far more dangerous than the casual Alex and Steve running around thinking a bow works like a machine gun.
I'm not sure how one joins Team Eggwars and thinks a fight will consist of both players hitting each other with a sword (or melee combat for the players who think axes work in the long run.) Eggwars is the fairest game there is
assuming no one has the prison cage everyone starts with the same materials and has the same chance (without taking skill into account) to gather more (this is all, apart from some design mistakes, I'll be making a thread about this with
@Elaad). The game is based on skill and mistakes made by yourself and the enemy. Claiming a weapon is overpowered because it costs too little is quite weird as everyone had the same chance to gain the necessary resources. That being said, the weapon is quite a
powerful weapon and having it priced higher than a one run to mid is excellent as it makes the player either take the risk of staying in mid-longer and flee the battlefield and camp the diamond gen at home. Which makes them vulnerable to attacks from those who did farm mid and now have better gear.
Some other remarks made in the thread,
but Power Bows are just useless in Overpowerd.
Well no absolutely not, a power 5 bow might even be more dangerous than a punch bow. It one-shots naked players and 3-4 shots leather armoured ones. Underused, underrated and unexpected, but definitely not useless!
Plus I had seen a lot of complaints when playing EggWars the other day, so the non-forums community may agree as well
Undoubtedly those with less than a day playtime in Eggwars who are also annoyed when a tryhard builds faster than 2 blocks/second.
Conclusion,
