Also I as a sophomore in highschool find middle schoolers swear more than high schoolers in real life. Having a chat filter hardly protects young children from learning profane language. About toxicity, it doesn't do much, if someone wants to be toxic they will find a way to speak their mind, you can be toxic without swears, ez or L. All the chat filter does is act like a speed bump, sometimes you don't know what you wrote that isn't allowed so you have to spend minutes editing your message to be appropriate. Even if ones message has malicious intents.
Refer to this please:
Children may learn swear words in other locations, but our concern is not other locations but rather our own chat. We want to be sure to be a positive influence to the people that play in our community. Also keep in mind that even with our filter, the chat can get toxic so if removing that allows people to have freedom, then it would just get worse.
No mods are required to have chat, no one has to look at it, people can ignore people or disable chat entirely. I will not be stupid and say "we have our freedom of speech". It's a private entity, but if you didn't have chat I think half the server would leave, I'm not even overestimating or creating a hyperbole.
Yes mods have to have a chat, but I was not saying the player do. I was saying the ability to chat with others is a gift we provide. We could shut off the chat, but we leave it for you guys to enjoy. Many players say they have freedom to say such things or the right to chat, which is just not the case. I am sorry, but the filter is there for a reason. It allows us to do our part to jeep our corner of the internet as clean as possible. True they can be toxic in other ways, but saying things like “ez” is less toxic then cursing someone out in my opinion.
I kinda hate that you can swear in many language and dont get muted or warned for it because the staff team dont understand.
Like you can swear in Swedish almost how much you want and you cant report it.
We may not have every language, but we do have quite a few and have the main languages that the players on the server speak. That being said, if you speak a language that we do not have yet, feel free to apply for helper :)

In my opinion it's not. I don't mind if someone is cursing at me because it just means they're mad that they lost. Doesn't do me any harm. Saying "ez" is just trying to be as toxic as possible to people and trying to ruin their experience. Now of course, people who curse also try that, but it's a lot less effective, you could even say counter intuitive because they're only making themselves madder.

I'll post also this here: https://www.cubecraft.net/threads/did-you-know-its-mutable-to-talk-in-chat.181229/
Please consider the Alternative suggestion.

- I know personally that the staff work really hard to crack down on something like this by recruiting the appropriate mods aswell as using friends who speak other languages for assistance. Have you ever tried reporting the individual(s) and in the report explain to the staff what the word is translated to?

True but you cant translate everything and the translator is weird sometimes tbh...
- Many translators on the internet are quite unreliable.

Yes but they arent that good and if people dont report and its a Mod in the lobby, they dont get warned or muted anyway.

Your best bet for someone to get punished for something like this would be to:
  • Ask the individual if they could not use profanity in their message. This would require you to tell the individual what part of their message contained profanity (without repeating the profanity). If not, and they do it again, let a moderator know or file a report.
    • E.g.
      • Them: "You're such a _____."
      • You: "Hey, (name) could you not use the word after "a", that contains profanity and is against the rules."
  • Message a moderator in game and let them know that someone's message contained profanity in another language.
    • E.g.
      • "/msg (mod) Hey, (user's name)'s message contained profanity in another language, it's the word that follows 'a'. It's, for example, Spanish for .... (don't repeat the word)."
  • Screenshot, ask them politely not to repeat their message (or the word, without using it) and file a report, letting the staff know what it means in the comment section of the report.
    • "(Name), could you please not use the word following "a".
    • In the report,
      • That word is Spanish for profanity, here's a link to the translation, "www.spanishdict.com/ blah blah blah"

Hope this made it easier for you.

True, but I personally think it's a waste of time messaging somebody not to swear. I see this a lot on other servers, (especially when it's someone with a rank) somebody swears, and they tell them not to do it. I personally think it's a waste of time, I would just let the admins deal with it, or the helpers, if you really feel the need, take a screenshot (you do need a warning in the screenshot, keep in mind)

Either way I just ignore it. I don't make toxicity in chat my business. (Though I do sometimes record hackers)

It's the thought that matters. xP

However, your reply was very fair in my opinion. I only mentioned the warning bit cuz when it happens in chat and I'm in a vc with a mod they usually ask for me to ask the individual not to use that word.

I in my post specifically said that I understand in private entities the freedom of speech doesn't apply. When I said it doesn't require it doesn't take mods to chat, I meant modifications, not moderators. Thank you for thoroughly reading through my post *sarcasm*. I guess you are the type of person to get moderator/staff. Types there mind regardless of if it is meaningful to the conversation or not so you can get a lot of messages. If not their mind then just sustaining the current system. I'm going to make a thread on the 3rd one soon. Also half the server would not play if cube didn't have a chat. In fact CubeCraft would never do that, they have a discord server too which encourages communication. Anyone can disable chat or ignore people if they wanted to. Chat takes no modIFICATIONs to run, no plugins (colored chat kind of but that's aside the point), and no bandwidth to run, it is a free feature of Minecraft and if removed people wouldn't enjoy the server as thoroughly.

Sorry, I misread your comment as "no mods are needed to have chat" as moderators have to have chat, but I can assure you I fully read what you said. Also no one ever said anything about removing chat. This thread is about the chat filter more specifically then the actual chat and that is what I strictly commented on. I do not comment on things just for the messages, but rather to answer the question or state my opinion (which is allowed). Everything I said stayed on topic to the thread.
Back to this thread's topic, all I have said previously is still relevant. We will not remove the chat filter, that being said, if you feel it could be improved feel free to suggest some of the improvements.
