Why in the name of babyboy should we add survival?
Because it's great. Players will love it, they will stick around and it's something hypixel doesn't have. This is something else from the ordinary and repetitive games we've all gotten used to. (It'll also help to strengthen that community feelin').

Cubecraft is constantly adding more games, but they all seem to follow a certain pattern playercount wise:
Week 1, everyone wants to try the new gamemode, lobbies fill almost instantly.
Week 2-4, gamemode is doing well but slowly losing players, players return to what they normally do on other games, other servers or other games than minecraft.
Week 4-6, game still active but little players online, games take ages to start due to little players. Because it takes ages to start, more and more players stop enjoying it and quit.
Week 6+, New players can't even try the gamemode because there aren't enough players to start the game, conclusively killing the gamemode with no hopes of revival.

Now, this is because all those gamemodes, after you finish playing them, it's over. The game ended, that's it. Survival on the other hand, will not end after a few minutes. It'll continue for months if not years. That keeps the initial excitement of week 1 (somewhat), and I think players will have a higher chance of sticking with it. Even if it does lose some players, it doesn't have the problem other dying gamemodes have: Not enough players to start the game. With 1.13 around I think it has a lot of exciting features for players to explore, and it might just do a lot better than what skeptics initially thought.

That's pretty much the suggestion, more technical stuff below.
Now, some critics might say cubecraft can't handle a survival server because it would take up too much resources, which will create too much lag.
To that is an easy fix: Just make sure the server gets reset often enough, unloading all chunks etc, make the server render distance no longer than 10 and pre-generate the world so chunk generation won't cause any lag.
Also, if cube could handle all the Bingo worlds when it initially came out and all players wanted to try it, I'm sure it can handle this too.

Now if it turns out cube isn't actually able to handle it (which I doubt), there is always skyblock. Skyblock is mostly air but has some of the key features that makes survival good, so, that's my backup plan. However, I think survival would still be a lot better than skyblock because skyblock is mostly grinding, almost everyone has done it already and the features of 1.13 aren't really available in skyblock. In skyblock everyone is seperated whilst in survival, you can meet random people just by walking around.

One last thing, please don't make a custom world, unless you want a UHC disaster 2.0. Try to keep it vanilla.

I would like a townie based survival just because griefing will be a problem otherwise. I think survival would work pretty well because no other big servers really have survival, let alone one on 1.13. Keeping it as vanilla as possible is definitely the way to go. I would also love to see an admin type or role (or Sr mod thing since they don’t really have a purpose right now) to be able to host activities and competitions and give rewards. Keep the community engaged and such.

Another way to keep the lag down would be have multiple worlds. Each world would be different, so you will need to remember which one you were in.

I think survival has a good bit of potential so I definitely support.

No please :/. I played on some skyblock servers with multiple worlds/names. (Fire, ice, etc. No difference in world) this just splits the community and if you join someone else his base/house you lose all your progress on the other server you have been playing on. And:
1: hey wanna play survival
2: sure what world?
1: i have a base with friends on world1
2: but i already have a base in world2
1: but i played alot on world1 and i want to play with my other friends.
2: but i have a base in world 2 and friends on that world

Lag can be solved by pre-generating the chunks and setting a world border so no 1 can generate more chunks

Edit: is pvp on?

I'm all in for adding survival, but I see quite a few of problems with it

- Players griefing
- Player stealing
- Players creating laggmachines on purpose

I don’t see too much of a problem with splitting the community since you don’t need the other players to start the game like the other games. It’s just a passive ongoing thing. But your other points are true and I’ve experienced that on some skyblock servers. My only worry is running out of space in a world. If we have too many people in a limited world, then you run out of room to mine to collect resources. Maybe a fix could be have a secondary resource world which is reset every week or so. Basically just another vanilla world and all your inventory stuff transfers, and you are free to go around and collect resources.

I'm all in for adding survival, but I see quite a few of problems with it

My thought would be a townie chunk system. You are able to claim chunks and add players to them. These claimed chunks have settings to disable explosions, mob griefing, pvp, etc. You are able to toggle all these settings to create mob farms, pvp arenas, and other fun things. Outside of these zones, everything will be vanilla.
There would be survival rules of course. Like no trolling others (be more of if they report it, then they get in trouble, otherwise you are free to troll friends), no lag machines, no attempted griefing, no offensive buildings, and probably more things which can be defined if this goes through. Mods will have the ability to enable a staff mode to deal with these things which can override plot claims and such.

My thought was just more plots per person. So stone would just have 4 per person, and then 1 more per rank (plus would give two perhaps). I’m not a real big fan of segregating non-ranked players from ranked players. Just feels wrong.

we should get it as fully fledged out as we can.

I'm not sure about this. I can't think of a big 2000+ player server that's had survival before apart from MCCentral but that's because their survival is 1.8, pay2win and isn't really survival, you get plots and stuff and a resource gathering world, so its just skyblock but on the ground.

I think it would be better if cubecraft would focus on their pvp (statistically the gamemode with the most suggestions on the forums) and become the centre of 1.13 pvp instead. It could eat up the communities of other servers like unity, melville, vanilla legacy + the thousands of players that quit because they didn't add the pvp suggestions they asked for many times.

No thanks we already have 2 unofficial servers for this just why should ccg makw one? It’ll probably have all sorts of stupid plugins and claims, No pvp etc. We already have 2 diff servers for survival

I don’t think getting chunks should be rank wise. It would make the gamemode way less fun for players who don’t have enough space to build and do things as they please. There should be some sort of limit though so you can’t just claim an endless part of land.

I do think that it would be cool to have cosmetics though for ranks in survival, like having exclusive chat titles for survival only. Or something along those lines. I just don’t think survial should be a PTW gamemode. I don’t think prople would enjoy it.


As for the suggestuon itself: If you do the thing, and you do it right, and you don’t heck it up, it works. It just works. (If you do it right Cube I might just play it)

Can you random warp or do you need to travel to a place from spawn?
Tnt enabled?
pvp area?
Spawn protection within a 32 chunk? (No half broken tree's or random plot claims with lava and stuff)
Clans?
Player roles? (Able to give player a tag/role (that you see when you hover over his/her name) like "Miner", "Builder", "Redstone Guy")
keep inventory? (i like the bingo death chest that you lose some stuff but not all. and its protected, so no other player can grab it)

Silk touch the spawners?

So you can trade the same block for the special block. example:
i have a wood block (1)
i can do something like /special and i see a menu that i can select to change my block. I want to change my wood block to the all textured wood block.
my block gets taken and i get 1 all textured wood block

Maybe that you can transfer your cosmetic stuff. More details:
shields = iron+
win effects (when you mine a diamond or defeat the ender dragon) = lapiz+
arrow trails = gold+
trails = diamond+
miniatures = emerald+
gadgets (not the ones that changes the world like sand castle) = obsidian+

I think, no. With this players can make some insane mobfarms what would cause a lot of lagg.

I believe 1.13 has bark blocks which already have that without commands (https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Wood)
You can't craft them in survival.

The items are put in a chest that is available for 1 hour. You lose some stuff because you died. I like and hate it if items go, but if you die you need to get some punishment.
