Option 4: A setting. IF I enable this setting I will be able to see other players health and they will be able to see mine. If my setting is OFF, neither will I be able to see theirs nor will they be able to see mine.
I think that this is a really good idea and I don't get why nobody is talking about this: If I don't care about seeing other players' hearts and I don't want other players to see mine, it would be a fair fight with everyone. Otherwise if people want to see other players' hearts and don't care about letting other people see their hearts it would still be a fair fight with everyone, if people decide to see or not see health indicator.
I honestly am totally against this kind of modifications to the game, it's such a coward and unfair move: I'd never lower myself to the level of using damage indicators to have advantages in fights, I still have some dignity left.

Unfortunaltly damage indicators are legal in cubecraft, it gives greatly advantage to players who damage indicator, i just report someone using it and mod said its legal. i cant understand how its legal but its :)
I just want to pose an alternative option, which addresses lots of concerns which has been bought up. What if we make it so that health indicators (both from the server, and from any client mods) are invisible by default, util you engage in combat. This means that if you're already fighting someone, you continue to see their health for 10 seconds, but if you are looking at them from a distance and determining if you should clean them, you can't see their health until you hit them. This means that engaging in combat remains a risk, but also encourages a player to finish killing the other player, rather than both people running away when both get low on health.
Seeing health at all is still not natural + it is not like cleaners would sit and wait, they'd probably use eggs or a bow to check health from a distance. Cleaning is not the only problem with damage indicators but also the skill of knowing when to be aggressive or defensive is gone now that you can just see ur opponents health, without indicators u have to take risks because in ur head they are on 1 or 2 hearts even though you are on maybe 4 hearts
I like this option the most honestly. I think as someone mentioned above (their problem with it) it should only be activated by a bow not snowballs or other throwables. (Wands in lucky islands too) Bringing more strategy to PvP on Cubecraft is needed and I believe that Damage indicators help you take more calculated ways of PvP instead of just hoping to win a fight you can know if you should crit someone out or strafe and occasionally hit them. This solution keeps the strategy part in fights, but removes the problem everyone was worried about (cleaning). For the people that don’t support this, simply just toggle it off and it’s the same as it was before Cubecraft implemented it.
Something that should be considered is whether the players voting for which option are consistent players or occasional/newer players. While every player should have a vote, I think cube should be more considerate of players who are consistently active on the server rather than players that almost never join, since the players who are more active will be the most affected.
Solution 2 will be my vote. People are using strategies like show no fear etc which would be pointless if you could see people's health. In this way you would be a target by anyone if you are on low health which makes it pretty much impossible to take a fight in the middle where everyone is.
I'm going to weight in again with a more in-depth opinion on it after reading through most of the thread.
While I do support Option 1 as I don't have much of a choice... The way it has been for some time is still good and should remain in place. Cleaning will happen regardless of it or not and could be worse if everyone has the indicator. Currently on some have it and you can download it if you want it. Instead of handing you all the tools, it's there for you you to find and use if you so wish. I love having things that you have to actually look for rather than just get which is fairer than doing nothing and getting the same results. Not as many people as you think to use it currently and even when I play against them it's completely fine. I play many different games all the time on Cube with or without it and I never have too much of a problem with it. Whether they have an indicator or not. Seeing someone's health isn't that bad, the advantage isn't really much, and whenever I use it vs when I don't use it, hardly change my game. A lot of people are quick to blame indicators for cleaning or for targeting even when sometimes people just do it. Whether or not they are salty for dying or just aren't aware of how it really is. So as someone who uses it and also has it used against. It's really not that big of a deal. I wish it would stay how it is now but it looks like it won't sadly. :/
I will say since it looks like Option 1 will be what is added, I would like it togglable so I can continue using my own, some people make their own custom ones or even are paying for features that support it so they should be able to still do so. But then again adding it for all will kind of make them dull and will just be another server that everyone can see everyone's health.
Doing nothing about this, and leaving as described in "Solution 3" isn't a great idea, because most of the players that play on vanilla Minecraft doesn't even know about "Damage Indicator" mods, and they don't even know that some players use this in their own advantage against them. I'm saying no to this solution.
Disabling damage indicators in CubeCraft as described in "Solution 2" might bring some hate from some players, since it was allowed in this server for ages and now, we use to see other player's health. So I only can disagree with this solution.
And this brings us to "Solution 1", I made thread my self about damage indicator as a boss bar.
Hello. As the title says I'm suggesting to add boss bar health indicator for all PVP games (assassination, ffa, duels, eggwars, skywars, and so on...) How does it work? - It will appear as a boss bar when you hit a player. - If you're not...

The thread did not got much of attention, but "Solution 1" has their own problems, basically how it should be implemented is a big problem, there is a lot of ways to implement this, even as described in "Solution 1" isn't clear how it will look like, you can display players health below his name in many ways, you can display like this.
1 = half a heart, in total of 10 hearts = 20.
1 = 1 heart, 1.5 = 1 and a half heart (In my opinion this would be the best way to implement damage indicator).
And as I suggested, you can implement this as a boss bar.

If it's decided, and damage indicator will be added, then in my conclusion add options, like a toggle on/off, and maybe styles, like in the first picture or second or maybe even a boss bar style.

what if they add an extra thing where players can turn the DI off, so that players can’t see like my hearts and I can neither see them. It would be fair imo for everyone if one of the solutions get chosen what people don’t like.
they can choose this by going in the settings if they want theirs and other people their DI on, by turning it off it will go off for both people.
(I don’t know if this is possible and I didn’t know if I should post it here or on discord so I posted both)
