I agree with you, players buy a rank for the perks, that's right. But beside that, you can expect targetting. That's what I meant;)
People buy ranks for their perks yes.
Targetting is the only bad thing that comes from ranks.
This suggestion is trying to remove targetting, so therefore, ranks will be 100% good.

Why don't you like this suggestion? No offence but I really don't think you should be on your forums considering how little thought you put into your awful, awful posts. If I was you I'd stick to just playing on the server, probably arcade or freebuild.

A lot of people are asking for /nick for obsidian ranks but I think people could abuse that
I think a better way to stop obsidian ranks getting targetted is to add a command, named something on the lines of /togglerank, which you could execute in a lobby.
It would simply change your IGN from being purple to being dark grey (making it look like you're a stone rank so people won'y target you based on obby rank anymore). Would also change your name in chat from appearing like an obby rank to a stone rank.
This should only change your IGN colour/rank in games and in pre-game lobbies, NOT in main lobbies because then if they used their /fly perks, a lot of false confusing reports would happen. (Not an issue in pre-game lobbies because you can't use cosmetics in there anyway).

Instead of announcing WHO voted (eg "pvpkiller_GM69 voted for Overpowered Mode!"), it should just say something like "1 vote for Overpowered mode!". That way the voter is still anonymous and won't get targetted.

I think its a good idea, better than /nick, wbu?
When I'm in game, 90% of the time another rank is in the same lobby as me, you can bet that guy is going to be rushing me in particular.
What I'm saying, focussing happens and you just need to deal with it.

I personally feel like targeting is annoying, and I completely understand your reasoning to why you believe ranked players should have this permission. Players do target others, and it gets quite monotonous at times. However, there’s certain limitations and a vast difference between the necessities that a ranked player and staff / YouTubers need, hence why a permission like /nick is only available to them.

Removing a rank may not solve this either, as people recognise others by their name if they are actively attempting to target them. If you believe you are being targeted by someone in your game, you can switch lobbies from them if you spot them. Join games which are near to filling so they won’t be able to join with you. There are multiple different ways which you can stop the same person / people targeting you.
I see staff like tacosbefriend spamming the /nick suggestion threads with condescending comments such as "pathetic little kids. only staff ranks like ME and youtubers get targetted, obsidians DO NOT get targetted because of their rank
I’d love to see that specific comment. :P

If you don't think focussing ranked players is a good thing, then why don't you like this optional idea which could make it less likely to happen? What are the faults with the idea? Why don't you think it would work (if you don't think it would work)?

What you are describing here is tactical targetting, where other players recognise your IGN and that you are very good so they target you. You are right, the only way to stop this is by just leaving targetters' games.
But the thread isn't about tactical targetters, I am specifically talking about people who see a coloured name in chat and target them ONLY for that reason, because of the possibility that they might be good or if they voted for something they don't like. That, in my opinion, IS preventable, or at least you can REDUCE it if you implement something to similar to what I suggested. Also I would have agreed with you about the difference between YouTuber and normal ranked player targetting, but actually if you look at petezahhutt's content (probably cube's most well known youtuber), even he admits that targetting does exist vs players with donator ranks and said that it sucks the same way youtuber targetting sucks etc if you look at his videos.

I’d love to see that specific comment. :p

There was a much more rude one he posted months ago which I can't find anymore, but as you can see he is rudely dismissing the problem by saying things like "normal ranked players don't need such a feature" and all that nonsense because he doesn't believe ranked targetting exists. A shame an admin looks down on the community like this, a real shame.

I'm against this, for the same reason as why I think /nick is a bad idea. You are the one who chose to buy that rank. You can expect that you're getting targeted when you are a ranker. It's your own choise. So I don't think this is a good idea.
You can't do something against targetting, it just happens.

It doesn't hurt anyone, only helps, and it would show Cube cares about their ranked people. Also for anyone who likes to bring up the 'it's unnecessary' argument: so have many previous updates been too. Lil tiny 'unnecessary' things, that still got added. So why should this be treated much differently exactly?

lol I agree 100%
I really don't understand the "its unnecessary its part of the game deal with it!" community, one minute they're like this, then another they start suggesting things like "replace the selfie area in this lobby" or "lobby games rewards"
