I felt like I had to write this guide because currently, there are many players who don't understand how to play this magnificent game, and because the current guides are outdated. Let me teach you how to play!

  • First of all, you have to join a game. You can do so by clicking the Tower Defence NPC and clicking the stone bricks.
  • After enough players have joined, you will join the game. You will be matched up against the other team. A team can have up to 6 members, and you together will have to prevent your castle from being destroyed!
  • Each castle starts at 1000 health, and the health will decrease if mobs deal damage to the tower.
  • There are 2, very powerful castle guards next to each castle. They will deal with enemy mobs. However, they won't be able to kill everything! Build towers to protect and defend your castle. Castle guards will be disabled if the Armageddon mode starts.
  • You can send mobs which can deal damage to the enemy castle when they reach it. So, keep sending mobs. You can do so by clicking the chest in your hotbar. (You can send a maximum amount of 12 mobs by shift+clicking the mob you'd like to send to the enemy.) After that you have to click the monster spawner in the right corner.
  • After a long time of playing, the Armageddon mode will start. The health of your castle will decrease to 25% of its health and more events will happen. Read more about the Armageddon mode below!
  • You can earn experience (EXP) by sending waves of mobs. You can purchase several things with experience.
  • In the castle bazaar (the stone bricks in your hotbar), you can upgrade your gold mine, sword, bow, and you can buy potions.
  • You can place towers by right-clicking the chequered patterns. (Keep in mind that you should only place 3x3 towers in a 3x3 square, and 5x5 towers in a 5x5 square. Not doing so is considered team trolling and is a punishable offense. It could lead to a ban.)
  • If your mobs have destroyed the enemy castle, you have won! Congratulations!

Mobs are creatures you can send to the enemy, to deal damage to their caste! But, how to send mobs? And which mobs are available? Don't worry, I will explain everything about every mob in this section of the guide, and give you some tips.

How to send mobs?
You can send mobs by clicking the chest in your inventory. This menu will show up:

You can select several mobs. But which one is the strongest? I will tell you everything about mobs below.

This is the weakest mob. You'll unlock it when the game starts.

The skeleton is a fantastic mob which can make you win games. Especially high-leveled skeletons are very strong! It's smart to send hordes of skeletons if your enemy is a little underpowered. The skeletons can deal a lot of damage at the beginning of the game, and can be used to farm experience at the end of the game.

The silferfish is a flying mob which is quite weak. Although it's weak, it can be useful if the enemy has few air defence.

The witch is a mob that can heal other mobs! They are very strong in mid- and endgame. Make sure to send some tanks in front of the witches you send, because they probably won't be able to get to other troops on their own. They can heal each other, too, which makes the witch a real threat.

In my opinion, this is one of the best mobs. It has quite some HP and can deal a lot of damage when you upgrade it! However, it is expensive so make sure to upgrade your gold mine some times before you use this mob.

The giant has a massive amont of HP and deals a lot of damage.
Despite of that, I don't think it's a very strong mob. The giant gets killed fast, which is due to its movement speed. However, make sure this huge zombies doesn't get close to your castle, because it will be destroyed in no time!
This mob is invulnerable to the Quake Tower, summons zombies and can regenerate itself.

The mobs, that can damage the castle, should be defeated in some way. There should be a way to defend the castle! Well, there already are some ways, and one of them is by placing towers to defend your castle! Here, you will tell you everything about the towers of the game.

The Archer Tower can shoot arrows to both troops in the ground and in the air. Its level 1 version is not that strong, but if you upgrade the tower for multiple times, it can turn into a real mob slayer!

The Poison Tower is incredibly strong and helps you defend your castle. This tower is silent but deadly. It's clever to build a Poison Tower with path 1 near the spawnpoint of the mobs, so that the effect will last 30 seconds or forever. After that, you could build some Poison Towers with path 2 in other places of the map, to deal more damage to the enemy troops.

You must have some Necromancer Towers in your defence. In my opinion the shulkers are stronger than the snowmen, but you could try placing some Necromancers with path 2, too! It's (almost) always advantageous to try things out and create new tactics.

In Tower Defence, you can vote for certain options that can make the game a little easier, for example by selecting 'Double Income'. In this section of the thread, I will explain everything about the voting options of the game. You can vote by buying a rank and clicking the End Crystal in your inventory.

Here, you can change how many coins and how much experience you get.
You need the Gold rank or higher to be able to vote for the pricing.
You can select this option if you want to experience the 'old' Tower Defence: No rushing, games last longer than usual, etc.
No changes are made to the income. You'll gain the same amount of coins as in the 'classic' mode. (Just after the release of the game.)
You can select this option if you want to have a fast-paced game. Games with double income enabled usually don't last long. However, keep in mind that the enemy will also have double income, so they will be able to send strong mobs and place many towers too! Make sure you don't waste too much coins on mobs while the enemy troops are approaching your castle.
Everyone gets double income.
The things that will be influenced by this voting option are:
The goldmine: Double coins
The coins you get per killed mob: Double coins
The EXP per mob sent: Double EXP
Everyone gets extra coins and EXP at the start of the game.
Coins: +2000
EXP: +100
Here, you can vote for the gamemodes.
You need the Diamond rank or higher to be able to vote for gamemodes.
Just the good old Tower Defece. No changes will be made to the gamemode. You will have to send the mobs to your enemy by using the chest in your inventory, because otherwise you won't be able to defeat your enemy.
You can select this gamemode if you want to play in a different way than usual.
Waves of monsters are automatically sent to each side, and you can add troops to those waves.
You will get instant EXP when sending troops (normally, you have to wait until the troops die), and the troops will be 50% cheaper.
After the game ends in a tie, a weird thing will occur: The Armageddon mode! This mode will make it harder to defend the castle. Do not worry though. The same thing will happen to the foe!
You need the Lapiz rank or higher to be able to vote for Armageddon modes.
The Armageddon mode will be chosen randomly.
This Armageddon mode will spawn a Wither boss on each sides. The Wither boss is a strong mob which will destroy towers every now and then. It can deal a lot of damage and spawns Wither skeletons on its way to the castle. It will change the ground underneath it to netherrack and other blocks.
The lightning bolts this Armageddon modes summons will destroy random towers. It doesn't spawn any mobs, but it will make it harder to defend your castle, because you can't place new towers on the spots of the destroyed towers.
Lots of very strong mobs will be spawned on each side. Make sure to have a great defence after selecting this Armageddon mode, because otherwise you will probably lose due to the strong mobs.

After you've dealt enough hits, you can activate a special sword ability by using the right-click button on your mouse. There are several abilities you can use. (You have to unlock these abilities in the shop in the main lobby.)

More damage per sword level.
Price: 1000 points
Special ability: Sets mobs near you on fire.
Bigger radius per sword level.
Price: 1000 points
Special ability: Shakes up the ground.

Special ability: Spawns deadly spikes from the ground.
By upgrading the bow you can take out enemy troops from a far distance.
Looks like a normal bow.
Price: 0 coins
Damage: 6
Looks like a normal bow.
Price: 1000 coins

Looks like a normal bow.
Price: 2000 coins

Special ability: Shoots a very powerful arrow at the crosshair.
AoE potions are very useful and can help you wipe out waves of strong mobs, but can also help your mobs pass strong defenses. Make sure to buy some at the end of the game! (You have to unlock them by using experience, and you can buy them by using coins.)
The AoE potions look like normal potions, but can do a lot more incredible things!
Price: 200 EXP and 300 coins
Effect: Freezes mobs

Now that you've learned how to play the game, it's time to discover secrets and grind for achievements! Here you can read everything about the achievements of the game.

If you know how to play the game and have some experience with playing it, it might be cool to grind for some achievements. You can get cool things such as points and cubelets by completing them. The harder the achievement, the larger the reward. Here is a list of the achievements you can collect!
Have a Wither destroy one of your towers.
Rewards: 10 points and 50 experience
Send a zombie, a zombie pigman and a skeleton in the same wave.
Rewards: 10 points and 100 experience
Send 10 different types of monsters in 1 wave.

Welcome to the last section of the thread. This section is about some tips and tricks, which can make you a better player.
  • It's smart to unlock the skeleton directly after you have upgraded your goldmine to the second or the third level. Then save some EXP until you have gained enough EXP to unlock skeleton level 4 or 5. The enemy won't be prepared for your skeletons and the skeletons will probably deal heavy damage to the enemy's castle.
  • After you've unlocked goldmine level 5 and gained a lot of experience it could be handy to unlock the slime and upgrade it. It is a very strong mob and will make you gain a lot of experience, but is also very expensive. Make sure to unlock goldmine level 6 before sending big waves of upgraded slimes.
  • Help your troops on their way to the enemy's castle! Buy some speed and health AoE's, so that they can deal more damage.
  • In my opinion, the giant is a waste of coins and EXP. In spite of that, if your enemy has a weak defence the giants might be useful, though.
  • Make sure to communicate like a real team! Your mobs probably won't be able to reach the castle on their own, so sending mobs together is a good plan in the end of the game.
  • Witches are incredibly useful to heal other troops. Make sure to send some of them to heal your tanks on their way to the castle! (Or just throw some health AoE's.)
  • You can see how much time you need to send a new wave by watching your EXP bar fill. Once it's filled, you can send a new wave of troops.
