Recently ive posted something that has been bugging me for a while in the tower defense category. It wasn't really a good suggestion and it was posted under the wrong category, so im making it into an official suggestion now since i feel like tower defense needs a rework.
Lets start with the issue im currently having with tower defense, so al lot of my recent games in tower defense ive played were with relatively new players that didnt really know what they were doing, they just spammed level 1 archers and placed them on the wrong tiles. this just ruins my game, because sometimes i just get placed against a well organised team that crushes us. I don't find playing with newer players an issue but this does annoy me. There is plenty of things that can be done to help prevent this:
-All new players that join tower defense for the first time get pushed into a turtorial explaining the game in short detail, so not a detailed explanation of what a tower does instead it shows how to place the towers in a correct way and to not mass spam towers everywhere.
-Only allow towers to be placed onto their correct tiles.
-Make a message pop up when you place a tower on the wrong tile that you placed it on the wrong tile.
Another issue ive been getting is people leaving the game, please make it so that leaving a game gives you a rejoin timer which allows you to not join a different game instantly for a limited amount of time. And make the game you maybe accidently left rejoinable.
Besides this issue there is a lot of positive things to say about tower defense:
-Unique and awesomely made game.
-Awesome maps.
-Different ways to play the game.
The list goes on.
However i think the game could implement some new towers and different mechanics that would make the game even more interesting to other players and i 'd love to see the game updated some more myself, so i came up with a few suggestions that might be interesting to add:
-1v1 and 2v2 modes, yes i know that during games people leave but thats not a secure way of getting an actual 1v1 or 2v2. I think a 1v1 and 2v2 mode is not that hard to implement and can for sure make the game much more interesting. For example in a 1v1 mode you could completelty rely on your own skill and ability to manage your towers and the monsters you are sending at the same time, and with 2v2 you could play with youyr friend (which i do occasionaly) and come up with interestig strategy 's to play the game together.
-Changing the meta. So at the moment a few towers in the game are rather overpowered when you have them, and it just makes the game boring just because they are so good to have. So by buffing and nerfing some of the towers you could create new meta's that people will have to keep track off, and when the meta changes you have to adept to new strategy's and not that 1 tower that always wins the game for you.
Now onto something else, the addition of new towers and upgrade paths, that im currently in the process of working out:
-New ice tower path: the second path would create a blizzard that occurs for a few seconds and eventualy occurs forever which slows the monsters down and deals a bit of damage. You could also make it to snow and that the snow eventually stays permanent, cool little animation and also shows the exact range of the ice tower.
-New deployable, the wall: You can now buy and unlock the wall in the bazaar and can be placed down to avoid enemy 's from approaching your tower further. Of course this has its limitations, the wall has hitpoints and monsters can attack it, you would only be able to have a couple of them active at a time or just give them a deploy timer (they dissapear after a certain amount of time), this could be upgradeable.
-Upgrade your base: you can upgrade the maxiumum hitpoints of your base in the castle bazaar, and its look changes.
-New tower, the keep: instead of the lame sorcerer tower the keep summons actual characters with armor and weapons that can kill the passing monsters, their armor and weapons could be upgradeable in the keep itself. And you can specialize it in either melee helpers or ranged helpers.
-New troop, the summoner: the summoner would be a different version of a witch that would be immune to artillery and she posses the power to summon spooky skeletons that walk in front of her.
I think this makes my suggestion thread complete, i spended a lot of time typing it so i hope people like it.
