Trouble with egg quest

Me and my friend are having trouble figuring out how to make the chickens spawn eggs.
We've tried multiple methods.
We even asked the people in the hub but no response.

We would appreciate if someone told us how to do the quest.

Yes, the spawners are placed on the ground , chickens have spawned but wont lay eggs.
Me and my friend have waited about 30minutes waiting and no eggs have spawned.

You just have to wait for them to spawn eggs. I know, it takes ages... Are you sure you're close to them?

Maybe let them stay on a 1x1 cage, and stand there. (I did it on a grass block)

Yeh u just need to wait, make sure there is light arround, so the chickens spawn more

Based on player feedback, the amount of eggs needed to complete the quest has been reduced from 50 to 16. This should not impede any of your progress towards completion of this quest.
