I went to do some testing after seeing your design. You are able to force the mobs to spawn in a 1x1 area on a sign and then immediately fall down a chute into the killing chamber. No need for any water. All you need is a sign, and then the spawners go around the sign with blocks on top so...

Only the first 5 levels have those high level jumps. Level 6 and onwards resets to 6 levels and increases by 1 per level. I would like to see it changed to exp since it seems more fair.

This is a vanilla feature. Hydrated farmland causes crops to grow faster than dry soil. I don’t know if there is any difference on cube due to their crop growth overhaul.
