I can see why a respawn timer was added, but 8-10 seconds? That's ridiculous, that's basically one death and you are guaranteed to lose your egg, if it really is 10 seconds they might as well just rename to "skywars 2". Everything else I like but an 8-10 secomd respawn timer is awful.
Unless you have a reliable teammate still fighting the person...
You're also missing the whole "if they're next to your egg" detail.
Look at it from their side: It isn't very fair to be punched to death after they killed you fairly, is it? I mean, you died due to their opponent having infinite lives & infinite protection to spam click your armor to death, and finally killing you. I wouldn't consider that fair.

1) you didn't mention anything about standing next to your egg, just an 8-10 second respawn timer which is pandering to the dumbest players on the server.

2) how is it not fair? If you're geared up you have no business being punched to death by a naked player. It isn't hard to think just a little bit and come up with something other than standing out in the open and holding down aouse button.

If they're at mid, and you die, do you lose your egg? Not necessarily.

Not fair because: The geared guy has everything to lose, while you have absolutely no risk in it. You have infinite lives, infinite protection, you can just hit him an infinite amount of times, while he has to wait for you to run out of spawn protection so he can only buy himself 3 seconds of time. How exactly is it fair?
If you're just going to tell us "well you should've prepared better", don't bother. Clearly we already prepared enough to kill your team, but apparently that doesn't matter.

If they want to get your egg yes. That respawn timer gives them enough time to run to your island, at which point they will just kill you again because you probably can't get as geared as them in 10-20 seconds, and then get your egg.

Because you're not thinking about it the right way. If you just kill him and stand there waiting for him to come back, on course he'll just keep hitting you. You have to obby yourself in, if the have a big bile of obby you can build up, you can run around their island to gain some distance between you and them, use a strategy that involves more than standing and holding a mouse button down. Whats going to happen now is:

" __________ killed you"
"___________ broke your egg "
"___________ killed you "
you have been eliminated from the game

after your first death.

I'm not even against a respawn timer, but 8-10 seconds is just too long.

Well considering how many maps have their player respawn near the egg, I rather have the long respawn timer than them instantly respawning. Unless the builders want to spend a crap ton of time revamping the maps, this is the more simpler solution.

Then what's the whole point of having an egg if it's easier for your enemies to break it than it is for you to defend it? That makes it even more encouraging to camp because what's the point of leaving your island if dying carries such a huge penalty?

What's the point of attacking if you can't break the egg because of instant respawn plus invincibility?

The fact that you can. It happens all the time, just because YOU can't doesn't mean it isn't doable.
I can do it perfectly fine, so don't you dare assume something you know nothing about.
The fact is, on larger maps (3-10 player teams) it is next to impossible for the average player to break a fully obsidianed egg unless almost the entire team is not at base. And i am sure people don't want to sit around if 10 minutes collecting gold so they can break ONE silly egg. So yes, this update is amazing. It would be great if it was 3-5 seconds, but that can be changed later. All that matter is that is has been changed.

The thing is it SHOULD be extremely hard for one player to break an egg that's guarded by 3+ people. Do you really think that it should be easy for one person to break an egg with the entire team of say 4 at their island? Then what's the point of playing eggwars if you die once and you're guaranteed to lose? How is that any better than skywars?

And it doesn't take 10 minutes on a gold gen to collect enough obby to break an egg ...

Also 3-5 seconds is reasonable, but OP said 8-10 seconds and eveyone but apparently us is saying that that's great.

What you are forgetting is that you literally HAVE TO KILL AN ENTIRE FULLY GEARED TEAM before even getting to the egg. What should be hard is killing off all the team members and resetting their entire inventory. Once they all are without gear, you should be able to get their egg pretty easily. But, with the current system, once you kill one of them, they immediately come back and start hitting you. So even though you successfully killed every single one of them (likely multiple times over as you were killing the other geared ones), you still can't break the egg. How is this in any way shape or form fair? This is why there should be a respawn timer.

Because it's still one of you vs many of them. Unless the respawn timer is long enough for you to kill the entire team it won't make a difference anyway as they'll respawn while you're fighting someone else.

At least it's not instant and with the change to spawn protection, you can kill them right off again giving you more time.

Unless you have a eapon that does 20 damage you can't kill them right away, they can still get punches on you even without spawn protection. And when it's 1 vs many it doesn't make much of a difference because when one dies, the other(s) will just go into distract mode until the dead person respawns and you're back at square one.

You can easily kill them off with a few sword hits. In 5+ seconds plus traverse time (bigger player teams usually have the egg farther away) you can easily kill off a bunch of gearless players. You can even build barricades to slow them down even more (like on teaparty blocking up the stairs). With the respawn timer, it spaced the players out enough that you won't have to always deal with every single team member at the same time. That is significantly better than instantly repsawning so you at least have easier fights and relief time.
