Hello! I am here with a new map, this time for duels! Who likes basketball??
Huge thanks to @Remmie for helping with the name and suggestions!

  • Map name: Streetball.
  • Creators: @FireExcalibur10 @Remmie
  • Description: Map for duels based on typical americal basketball courts, simple but fair enough for pvp. The map is good for fighting with barely no obstacles that can distract players. It's built in 1.8 so it has the allowed blocks, also we've put barriers so players cannot knock eachother to the void. Some people would think it's a bit simple, but to be honest what do you expect from a basketball court in the street? :p
Suggestions are totally welcomed and there's always room for improvement! Also name change is welcomed too!
Thanks!

Very cool, the only thing I don't like are invisible blocks, I think they'd be bothering for the pvp, I'd rather playing on a map with the void instead of win an invisible barrier.

But well done :)

Don't think this map is up to Cube's current standards. It's the typical, square shape, nothing that makes gameplay interesting, dull colours.
Also, you used a resource pack for the screenshots, I think it's best if you quickly take some new screens without a pack, and replace the current ones! ;)

What do you expect from a street basketball court? They are all dull colors. The texturepack I am using is the same as the default, it's not changing the textures, only the stone is a bit darker in my pack, so it's better with the default.

Oh I could replace them for iron barriers instead, nice idea, to simulate the gates :P

As you said here, the stone is significantly darker. Is it really such a big deal to just take new screenshots without any texture packs on? :p

I kept a promise to myself to give more feedback on map submissions so today's lunch will have to wait a bit!
Though my reply may be late compared to the time you submitted the map, I did watch it from your first version (the plain-gray court with tribunes) to your most recent version where you added a small street to the side.
Though I do agree that your current version has improvements over the first version, I do not necessearily think these changes were for the best.

- The color of the basketball court
It is safe to say it was a great improvement to add color to break the dull look of a gray, stone basketball court. But I do not think blue fits the scenario in this case.
I imagine a sports field to be blue inside a sport hall or something like that. When I think of a basketball course outside I just by far think more of a gray-colored area. I am convinced your court should keep it's base-color gray and slight tints of different colors. I will add some examples of basketball courts with colors I think look great.

Most of these field keep the dark, gray theme to it with some brighter or lively colors around it.
- Fencing around the court
I have rarely enjoyed using iron bars in my builds, simply because they just don't look well in big masses! In tearms of realism, yes your choice of adding an iron fence around the court would be more realistic. But I would actually swap the iron fences with light gray glass panes, perhaps with dark gray glass panes as pillars every now and a while. To me iron bars make the map feel run down, abandoned and genuintly ruins the look of the rest of the map. I highly recommend using glass instead.
- Street lightning poles
Very small and minor adjustment (or perhaps even personal preference) but I would add a single slab to the front and end of your current light post (so in total you will have 6 slabs) and add a sea lantern on the 5th one. Again this one is mostly personal preference so take what you will from this bit.
- Surrounding
I am not a fan of the direction you chose of decorating the outsides of the arena. I would either try to add more details to the tribunes or leave them out all together.
If I'm correct you wanted it to have a city- / urban-feeling, hence why you probably added a street next to it. You could decide to keep this or go with another route, which I would enjoy much for to look at. In my examples of basketball courts you noticed many of them were laying around some grass, in a park, etc. I recommend you do this aswell! Sometimes it is best to keep things simple in order for it to look nice.
Or instead you could add more grass perks next to the road, add small trees on the pavement, etc. Just add some more color to the sides.

I can see improvement as you make adjustments. Two things i have a concern with is the long load of the tower and the stands to me seems noisy. As in not smooth and pleasing to the eye to me. Other than that i love how the map was made and improved I hope to see this map in person! Well done 👍

Maybe a bit of a dumb question, but do chat prefixes exist on Cubecraft Java like they do on Bedrock?
