(This is mainly on normal mode) Really simple idea, on normal mode at the moment you can survive just about anything if you have enough armour but mainly golden apples, you can get from 2 hearts to 10 hearts really quickly by just non stop eating golden apples which is a bit overpowered. And I've noticed a lot of fights I have in normal end up to who has the most armour and golden apples (the fights where people don't punch bow spam at least).

It's pretty bland and I feel like a cooldown on eating golden apples could balance it a lot more. Or make it so after you've eaten 2 golden apples within 5 seconds, you can't eat another for another 5 seconds. The cooldown could even be 2 seconds and would still make such a big difference.

A cool down could help, but I recommend going for criticals when they start eating. If your criticals are spot on, you can still drop the person's health even whilst the golden apple up. Axe criticals are even more damaging. I don't mind having a cool down as such, but it's not something that I think we really need. If you can PvP well enough, then golden apples are useless against you.

You do know that this is something to do with Minecraft updates? You see one thing that I didn't like is the 1.9 food update witch means: Eating a piece of steak is basically eating a God apple. I guess CubeCraft could nerf this, but I don't think that it is really necessary.

As the fast bowler said, try to get some crits in when they start eating, gapples are quite worthless if you can crit combo them, the damage far exceeds the regen.

you cant really put a cooldown on eating food plus it would be a bit hard to develop anyways and honestly that just makes it more of a challenge i dont see why we would need a cooldown on it

Yeah I get that and I can usually win against most people using lots of golden apples but it feels unfair when I'm being 2v1ed by pretty good/average players and I win purely on the fact I keep chugging golden apples whilst even though they bought about 10-15 golden apples, I had more and they couldn't crit enough to counter the regen. Well mainly the absorption. I just think like a small cooldown to at least make it so that you cannot hold down right click with golden apples and be back to full if people aren't using an axe or great sword crits against you.
But for most people that read this suggestion they can probably counter golden apple spamming fine but this would help more average players.

I actually agree with this. Maybe the regen gets slowed down when in a 15-20 block radius of another player not on your team?
Yeah that'd be good actually, it's more of a thing where they're overpowered mid combat where you can just hold down right click and keep getting regen and absorption. So maybe whilst in combat you do not receive the full benefit of a golden apple.

First of all this copying directly from CosmicPvp and second golden apples are only useful when out of combat really so pretty much a useless concept because of the extreme damage 1.9 does

Now for 1.8 god applesthis would definetly be a good idea

I don't really mean how the saturation works (but yeah steak restores tons) but more the fact you can hold down right click with golden apples whilst someone is hitting you (unless they're pretty good and using an axe or getting great sword crits, which most people can't) and if the tps is pretty good you basically never run out of absorption until you stop eating them letting the regen slowly bring you to full whilst someone has been beating at you with a sword if they aren't getting crits or lag a little and miss a few hits.

Cosmic was not the first to bring golden apple sickness, and I'm thinking just a nerf to golden apples mid combat so not exactly golden apple sickness but more just a nerf to the absorption/regen mid battle because when the tps is good you can keep eating golden apples and unless they're using an axe, you basically have infinite absorption until you stop eating them, didn't really think about it on 1.8 because I haven't played eggwars on it.

In op mode golden apples even god apples are useless altogether but this "golden apple sickness" would be to overpowered for hardcore mode in my opinion and no if you time your hits right even in normal mode you can slice right through the golden apples effects, it happens to me sometimes where i have to chug at least 10 gapples to just regen off 1 heart so its a no from me, plus it would extend the game as people would die so fast noone would be able to get gear making obsidian overpowered

Well, I don't get this problem because I normal break their gear or crit them till they run out of Apples. Break their gear and you have the upper hand don't well then the fight won't end as quick. As for normal that's hard, just drain them of food/regen and crit because that does a heap

I really love this idea. Only thing is, golden apples are not very op. I do still think their should be a cool-down, but I have never noticed a need for a cool-down.

That's totally not what happened with food.
What happened in the update is, if you eat food and you're under 10 hearts, it's gonna regen you (at a very expensive cost of saturation) and the regen is based on how much saturation you have. Steaks have a really high saturation, so your food bars can last long if you do normal activities, and regen you fast and consistently on the go. But the fact with steak is, you can only fully regen once, and just by hitting the enemy once you make them lose that extra bit of saturation spent on regen, so they can't fully regen while getting hit.

Golden apples, though, even though having a slightly lower saturation they also have Regeneration II which gives a massive regen boost. This enables the player to regen slightly faster than with just normal food-regen and also keep the regen while the player is being hit, because it's not driven by food saturation, lost in amounts x time, but just the Regeneration II effect, that is only based off of time, and also has absorption.

While Golden apples might seem OP, they leave the player un-defended (they can't attack while eating, unless they have an hacked client) so when the enemy is off guard, you keep critical-hitting. This will put pressure on the enemy, and it will either end with:
1) The enemy runs out of Gapples and dies
2) You deal way more damage than Gapples can regen so they die
3) You're bad at PvP, miss a hit or two, and get rekked, so you die.

So if you need to quickly regen mid-fight, Golden Apples are always the best, and if you only have steak, make sure to take cover to regen, or just avoid losing any health.

Here you can see a table of Food points and saturation.
Cooked food is most of the time way more saturated than raw food.
Golden carrots are basically the best food in the game, so it's reasonable to take some gold blocks from mid when you get the chance to to get both some of those and golden apples if you lack any. This way, you can run for a long amount of time, and won't need to eat in fight as much.

When they start eating, you start bowspamming.
If you connect 3 shots in a row with the last one while they're in midair, they are royally screwed.
