I just feel like you guys are rushing to conclusions, the 1.14 update isn't even close to being out yet, nor do you guys know like anything about the update. Claims are being thrown around that a single item like the trident will gain us like thousands of players because it'll improve PvP so much?? I really don't feel like CubeCraft should fully update to a newer version now. I'm also quite confused that you're saying it would be bad if we stayed fully 1.8, a lot of players left our server due to us updating to 1.9.
Well, one thing that makes Cube stand out as opposed to other servers is the fact that Cube has a somewhat up-to-date version. Between 1.9 and 1.12, there have been numerous combat changes (saturation, regen, armour toughness, shields, etc.) & Cube is only going to be more and more outdated.
Staying with 1.9 as a minimum is basically doing the same thing that other major networks are doing, but rather with 1.8.
I'd love to update to the latest version when we can, but I'm not saying we should do it immediately. 1.12 has been out for a while meaning that it shouldn't be a massive pain to update, and 1.13 or 1.14 are something Cube can prepare for when the time comes. There's only going to be a bigger gap if we wait even longer.
Update to 1.12 for the current existing changes since 1.9, and then prepare for coming versions to prevent a big gap between versions. Cube's "not staying outdated" standard is one of its best traits in my opinion, and I'd hate for it to go to waste by not updating to future versions any time soon.

In regards to the 1.8 player loss due to 1.9:
1.8 and 1.9 have a huge difference in pvp itself, so the outdated players didn't want to start at square one again. 1.13 and above probably won't have anything as major as the 1.9 update happening, so the player loss is pretty much going to be almost negligible.

Ik what you mean, but we want blocks, items, mobs and other stuff that didn't exist in 1.9.

Because the latest version is better than 1.9.

And even more would have left later if we stayed on 1.8 because hypixel would take even more players away because whether you like it or not they're just better with the 1.8 side.
A good example of this is mineplex.

Of course the combat won't be that big of a difference compared to the 1.8 to 1.9 update, but it's not only about PvP mechanics that make a server appealing. The new blocks, mobs and physics will be quite interesting to see. It's not like we're saying "1.14 NOw u surver wer is 1.14 then??????? QUICK I NED 1.14". No, we're only discussing the benefits that 1.14 might have for Cube. As I said before, in my opinion Cube stands out for being a big server that's actually up-to-date.

I think it's more important to know what was blocked than knowing why it was blocked. If for example it indicates "fuck" (please don't ban me from the forums now lol) as the blocked word you can sort of tell it's because swearing is not allowed. Same goes with insulting, sending inappropriate links etc.
Sometimes, it is not obvious why something is blocked. Like the word "freddy" is blocked for who-knows-why. In that case, knowing why it was blocked would be useful.

Well that's true. Perhaps a brief explanation on why a word is blocked. Something like "The word (insert blocked word) has been blocked, due to it being a (insert reason).

Add a new option ; “1.12 firstTHEN 1.14”

That would reduce the nos and idks
There are two options. Either updating the version requires a lot of planning and recoding. Then it's definitely appropriate to start thinking about the 1.13/1.14 updates already. Or it's possible to update within a week with no planning required, in that case I want 1.12.2 now.

In my opinion I like the server as is, nothing should be changed. I myself am not a huge fan of party chat but there are other alternatives for this. Also towards the pvp side of this, I think the server is as great like this. Yes, updating to a new version may sound like fun but you also have to keep in mind that an update like this takes a large portions of amount of time.( I don't know much about it, but I'm sure when you want to change the version it requires a lot of time just to update, personally that would make my day long and boring(this only an opinion, please don't make and ass of me thanks))

Better to just go 1.12, so those on 1.12 and 1.12.1 don't have to update.

Eee i always want the latest version . Why do you think updating is a herculean task? I know people who play minecraft for months oblivious to the fact that the version is always changing. 1.12 is not enough we need to stay hip and trendy .
Why? It's very easy to update, in fact the launcher will automatically update by default. Mods are not supported by cubecraft anyway, so that's not an issue.

Optifine would also update within a week or two.

We all know that the chat system is bad. You just can not say L in chat anymore. but bleach and other diseases are allowed to be said in the chat. #FixCubecraft

Which doesn't work since it's not easily accessible. Just because there are other alternatives doesn't mean there's no reason to make something better which we agree is bad.

They updated from 1.8 to 1.9 too. Just because updating takes some time doesn't mean it shouldn't be done.

Some ppl use mods which don't affect gameplay. Also I said its so those who use 1.12 and 1.12.1 clients don't have to update. It also means anyone with mods that don't affect gameplay don't have to update to every single bug fix.

Just bc its 1.12 doesn't mean you can't play it using 1.12.2. Also updating to bug fix versions doesn't rly have much of a point, since 9 times out of 10 there will be no new features. It would be convenient to those who use mods to only update to a bug fix update if the major release has a game-breaking bug. Ik optifine updates quickly after new releases, but some don't want to need to update to a version with no new features, so its best to only update to major release. 1.12.1 and 1.12.2 are no more hip and trendy than 1.12, they have the exact same features, just a different set of bugs and 1.12.2 has a different game title.

That's their own problem then. Cubecraft has said multiple times that they are not supporting any mods. For example when corpses in SG broke due to a bug in Optifine or health tags broke in FFA. Anyways, they could use ProtocolSupport instead of the current compatibility plugin, so the server runs on the newest version but outdated clients can still join.

There will be bug fixes though, even more important than new features.

Random thought: I hope that whenever CubeCraft continues to work on the EggWars Update, I'd like for them to post a screenshot in the previews section of the Notion post showing two guys fighting in OP, one of them in full leather and the other in full chain. The leather guy has a diamond pickaxe, signifying the return of diamond pickaxe efficiency 2 costing gold and the chain armor guy has netherite sword.
