Well, one thing that makes Cube stand out as opposed to other servers is the fact that Cube has a somewhat up-to-date version. Between 1.9 and 1.12, there have been numerous combat changes (saturation, regen, armour toughness, shields, etc.) & Cube is only going to be more and more outdated.I just feel like you guys are rushing to conclusions, the 1.14 update isn't even close to being out yet, nor do you guys know like anything about the update. Claims are being thrown around that a single item like the trident will gain us like thousands of players because it'll improve PvP so much?? I really don't feel like CubeCraft should fully update to a newer version now. I'm also quite confused that you're saying it would be bad if we stayed fully 1.8, a lot of players left our server due to us updating to 1.9.
Staying with 1.9 as a minimum is basically doing the same thing that other major networks are doing, but rather with 1.8.
I'd love to update to the latest version when we can, but I'm not saying we should do it immediately. 1.12 has been out for a while meaning that it shouldn't be a massive pain to update, and 1.13 or 1.14 are something Cube can prepare for when the time comes. There's only going to be a bigger gap if we wait even longer.
Update to 1.12 for the current existing changes since 1.9, and then prepare for coming versions to prevent a big gap between versions. Cube's "not staying outdated" standard is one of its best traits in my opinion, and I'd hate for it to go to waste by not updating to future versions any time soon.
In regards to the 1.8 player loss due to 1.9:
1.8 and 1.9 have a huge difference in pvp itself, so the outdated players didn't want to start at square one again. 1.13 and above probably won't have anything as major as the 1.9 update happening, so the player loss is pretty much going to be almost negligible.
