Short question, coming!

I use command blocks a lot and am excellent at it. So I was wondering, those who use commands/ command blocks as well. Pre 1.13 syntax and commands or After 1.13 syntax and commands?
I like the pre 1.13 more for most things but the after 1.13 have some really nice features in some cases! But you need to type soo much more...


Please answer! :]

I prefer the syntax after 1.13

There were so many inconsistencies between syntax depending on where you were typing. I might have this wrong since it is has been so long since I messed around with pre-1.13 syntax, but what you had to type to get special text on signs, title commands, tellraw commands, and other things were different. It was really annoying having to remember if you need just quatation marks or if you need back/forward slash quatation marks. Those things messed up readablity so much.

The execute command is also so much more useable. I love all the additions made to it and it allows for you to create much simplier code. I was creating one game where I needed some logic checks, and before I had to use 3 nested execute commands to properly check each condition. Now I can just use if statements inside one execute command.

They also split up tag into its own proper command instead of being a scoreboard subcommand, which is saves time when typing and is generally easier to understand.

So many improvements. Love it.

I also prefer the syntax after 1.13, it's just so much easier to work with. The auto-fill in command blocks might be one of the best things that got added in terms of commands.

Sadly Bedrock Edition still uses most of pre-1.13 commands, and in some cases even pre-1.9 commands so that's what I got used to

So I started with command blocks probably way back in 1.9 and the syntaxes didn't really change that much over the years. I was kind of on a break when 1.13 released so I wasn't really aware of the changes that were made to the commands, until I was trying to get back into it. I was still making maps in 1.12 because I didn't have the courage to learn everything from the bottom up again (that's how it felt, to me)

First thing I noticed was how the /entitydata command was just gone. I was very upset because I relied on this command to make fancy armour stands for my maps. I looked for the alternative command (/data merge entity ...) but it really took a while to get used to it. I also noticed that /execute changed tremendously. Then I noticed that there were a lot of commands that did change in one way or another. It took some time to get used to the new syntaxes because I worked with the old ones for years.

Though, I can safely say that I prefer 1.13 syntaxes. Especially the /execute command has been revamped and this is by far the command I use and rely on the most! I'm pretty sure 85% of the command block community would agree :p

Opinion changed! I was wrong you're all right, post 1.13 is better. I've tried it again, despite the more type work it is better! Especially the execute command
