A common misconception is to make a server work for more players you just get a bigger server, this isn't really true :D We did this when we had issues with the original SkyBlock and Creative which led to us running servers in a room with an overclock that required us to pump 10ºC air in to the machines just to stop them crashing from overheating. That was one of the reasons that creative took so long to redo is we made it so it could scale. Rather than everyone being on one server we spread them out just like we do for all our other games. Bringing something like Factions, Survival or SkyBlock would take a similar engineering effort and the reward we would see from it would likely not be worth the investment. For now I agree it sounds like a fun idea, maybe one day. There may be a game coming soon that will fill some of the voids you all have for large scale PvP....
So how’re you guys gonna handle battle zones there are 100 players involved

That's the magic of our development and engineering teams.
I made a suggestion sometime ago about an eggwars map involving 10 teams of 10 players each - 100 in total. Marco replied that it was not possible at the time, but perhaps in the future.

So... is it at least possible now?

Didn't you guys already invest in this though with the return of Freebuild? Sure, Freebuild didn't turn out that well - but the system works pretty decent, afaik.
You had to spread players out over the servers to make it work, however, that just didn't match that well with the original feel of Freebuild- as we know it on smaller scales.

However, the investment has already been made - so why not use that system to build something like Skyblock on top of it? Skyblock is known for it's isolation, so that wouldn't mess with the original feel of Skyblock.
Go to any Skyblock server and you will see that everyone has his own little island - while most creative servers have one big piece of land.

I understand that it might seem like a scary thing to do, and that you rather want to move on with other things and forget about the failed Freebuild investment - but turning this investment into a success with something like Skyblock would make up for it all.

Perhaps re-consider it, and discuss with the development team to see if something like this is possible. I would love to see a Creative mode on CubeCraft succeed.

You may have also noticed that I said we will be releasing Creative but haven’t mentioned SkyBlock or Factions. For us the main thing we want to release is our new system for handling plots. The way we’re doing Creative is completely different than any other server has done. It has to be able to handle hundreds, even thousands of players everyday! This means we’re releasing Creative to make sure all of this works 100% before releasing SkyBlock. Factions will make a comeback at some point but that is a completely different system all together.

It's not that it's impossible it's that it's an unknown. While we have put the effort in to some of the technology (as you pointed out with Creative) it's never as simple as just taking one thing and moving it over to another. My favourite way of thinking about this is this image of an iceberg:

On top is what you guys get to see as the final version, underneath is all the code that makes it work.

I get that creating something like this takes a lot of time and effort - and that anything could go wrong.
I just felt like it would be slightly easier now that the plot-handling system is here. And it would be a shame to let that go to waste.
But as you said, it's unknown - perhaps i'm wrong and you need an entire different system for something like Skyblock - who knows!

But perhaps it's worth to at least investigate to see what's possible or not, perhaps the Skyblock iceberg looks more like this:

...okay that's bit too much perhaps, but you get what i'm trying to say! Get your snorkel kit and take a deep dive to investigate!
