This is something that we're also able to do. For the sake of simplicity we have been addressing different platforms by their default input devices, however when the system is developed, we will be engineer it around your input device rather than the software you run.

This is something that we want to tweak following release. We don't want to punish Mobile users for being on more difficult devices to control than other players, so we want to try and give as many people a fair game experience as possible. If it works better bringing Windows users into mobile games on the rare occasion, we might keep this functionality, but if people start abusing it like you mention, we'll happily tweak the system to function as you suggest. This is the reason that we would like to run tests on the SkyWars Experimental mode first.

This is something that worries me a lot, because we've always been very good at having snappy queue times. Now there is no doubt that Queue times will get longer, but it will be interesting to see by how much. I've been thinking about this over the past few days, and I think what's most likely to happen is a smart queue time system. It'd be a fairly complicated bit of logic, that basically analyses the number of people joining each of the queues. If the number of people joining EggWars Solo drops below a certain rate, it would start batching together Console and Win 10 users to bring the rate of connections back to rate which allows for games to start quickly again.
In a nutshell, sometimes this system may be active, sometimes it may not be, but the systems state will always being reviewed by some application, as so that queue times always remain short. What this would actually mean is that we can implement it on all the games, however since they won't always have the player count to support always running separate games per platform, it would be disabled for a lot of the day.

Currently I think leaderboards and stats are more broken with the existing system. I can go round most games of SkyWars and get 5+ kills and win 40%+ of the time. This is because so many of my games have players on devices which are unable to compete with mouse and keyboard. Even though mobile games with the new system may be slower, I believe they'll still obtain more wins over time due to fights they get into will be more fair. This would also give players using Windows more of a challenge in their regular games too.
Legend!

Hey Bedrock CubeCrafters!

Firstly, I'd like to thank you all for the feedback on the knockback test! Your feedback there has been wonderful, and we'll be releasing a new iteration of the knockback relatively soon, so keep your eyes out for that! 🎉

After going through the feedback, there was a point that was brought up a lot, which was "the knockback feels way too easy against mobile players", or on the flipside, "the knockback feels impossible against PC players". We want to pose the idea of having platform-specific games so that:

- Players on mobile will have fairer competition - i.e. not PvPing a player who is on PC and likely outmatched due to their input device.
- Players on PC will have more competition - i.e. not PvPing a player who is on mobile and having no hearts lost after the fight.

This would work by having three different platforms - PC, console and mobile. Depending on which platform you are on will put you into games matched with the same players on the same platforms.

This will likely only be implemented on gamemodes which we know that can sustain a split playerbase. This means games like EggWars, SkyWars and Lucky Islands will be the first games that will go through this change if we go ahead with it.

We are aware that there are a lot of questions regarding how it would work. To answer a few FAQs:

Q: Will I still be able to talk to my friends who are on mobile as a PC player? (And any other combination)
A:
Yes. This will only affect you once you click to join a game, so in lobbies, you can still talk to your friends.

Q: Will I still be able to play games with my friends who are on mobile as a PC player? (And any other combination)
A:
Yes - we're still looking into how we'd do this, however as a basis, if you're in a party of 10, and 9 players are on PC while 1 is on mobile, you'll be put into a PC game. But if you're in a party of 4, with 1 PC and 3 mobile, you'll be put into a mobile game. Establishing the threshold where you'll be put into a PC/console/mobile game is important, and we cannot rush, so we're looking into implementing it into the knockback test beforehand.

We'd love to hear your feedback on this, and vote on the poll on this thread! Thanks, everyone! 💙
Tbh I don’t care to much because even then theres so sweaty mobile players, like pure mobiles, I started playing cubecraft and everything in mobile around a year and a half ago playing duo eggwars with my friend, one of most fun moments is block trapping sweaty pc players and start laughing so hard in the school cafeteria or in an xbox party at home.
It was honestly great so here I have another Opinion/Idea

I will use a game called “Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare” as an example
COD:MW had Input based matchmaking, it is toggled off once you buy the game, with an option to turn it same Input only later on.

I also think if you atleast add an option when you first load into cubecraft after the update you are met with a pop up asking you “Would you like to queue with people on the same device? If yes, you may experience longer queue times” With an option of [Yes] or [No] if the player clicks escape/the X it re opens the menu until they select yes or no.

As well as current Tournament hosting. Bedrock has to random queue into games to get into the same match and if the contestants are on different platforms how would we host them?

I think it would be nice to have a choice to have the input matchmaking but it does decrease wait times. And to be honest, the only reason I played cube was for the working party systems, when I did play on mobile I preferred mineplex’s gamemodes, they were fun to me, but I wanted to play with a friend to make things more fun, but on Mineplex it wasn’t we never got onto the same team, but cubecraft had eggwars which was like camewars on minrplex but, better...
Tbh when I’m on mobile or when I was I just had fun killing WIN10/xbox sweats and I laughed so hard, I never got mad at dying to them

When I play on PC, I sometimes feel bad for other players and think that they aren’t having fun, so I would like to see this become a thing!
YES from me :D
It’s all fun and games until the mobile player pulls a 25 Diamon- I mean the Efficiency X wooden pickaxe at the start of the match and voids you cause it’s not op at all. These mobiles are op in Eggwars because they instant break my bridge and they csn hold anywhere on there screen so I never expect it.

I remember when me and toby use to play he would check what platform someone was playing on, not so we could leave but to see how good they were... and tbh the Win10 users some of them felt like mobiles with split controls, atleast a few months ago on Duo Eggwars I have no idea what it’s like in skywars I don’t play that at all. But to say the win10 users always have the advantage isn’t true Toby2Spades was, and still is a complete controller god, when I’m on win10 He get’s me to around 2 hearts that’s actually insane that a controller could do that to me, especially when I’m killing most people above 5hearts whatever input they play on. Sure he may be one of the outliers, but then I’m not a bad controller player myself, or SadStreetKen, LemaXB1 when they were on controller could get me under 5 hearts. Equionox, even some randoms that I queued with like IHaveRinne when they played controller. They weren’t bad I was still winning yes, but I’ve been playing just as long/longer as those people and they are controllers.

Sure mobiles are at a large disadvantage but then sometimes they aren’t. They can tap anywhere on there screen, do some weird asf KB to me, cancel my strafes or even get me into a weird combo, hit me a bit farther away, get a high cps because touch screen, better accuracy. Even completely confuse you because there playing max FOV and you don’t think they can hit/break blocks under you and you just die into the void

Alrighty so here's my views and opinions on it, I'm more half and half and with @Modulo 7 's views.
Pros:
With a system like this it would definitely allow for challenge in games and to be with your own platform. However this leads on to the cons.
(There are more it's just most of them have been said xD)

Cons:
Bedrock is made to be cross platform. This version was made to be fair for different versions. For example, mobile players don't always have to be aiming and attacking at the enemy, they can just tap the enemy (which doesn't require too much effort) whereas pc players have to use a mouse to aim which has its own benefits and disadvantages. To also make it fair, pc and xbox players can't use their off hand for much, done by Microsoft because mobile has only one primary form of input meaning to them the left hand is more of a visual feature, making it fairer across platforms.
As well as this, Bedrock is less competitive than Java, most players, like me, play for fun. We just want to have a good time on the server. As a pc player I have fought good mobile players, not as good mobile players, good console players, not as good console players. ect. A mobile player can be just as good and a pc player in my point of view. I have seen so many good players on other platforms I honestly don't believe it is any harder (well not too much harder) to play on a different platform, it is just personal preference. I used to play on mobile and I was relatively good at it. I play pc now, because I prefer to press a physical button than a touch screen. I just really believe that Bedrock is made to be cross platform and I feel that having Bedrock unifies the different platforms together and it seems like this change could split it up.

So, here's what my ideal compromise would be:
Skill based matchmaking!
With this, it would completely remove the idea of un-unifying Bedrock! Not only this, it would fix the problems of platform specific games, that people have mentioned, without losing too many benefits. For example one of the pros Younisco mentioned was the mobile players would have easier competition and pc players would have more of a challenge.
With skill based matchmaking instead of the original proposal it would allow mobile players an easier gameplay, since if they are struggling in matches they would be moved down to a class where there is an equal amount of challenge and reward. This would also be good for pc players, since if we are going by the views of them being better, then they would be moved to higher classes meaning that they would also have an equal amount of challenge and rewards. The same would apply to console.

As well as this, it would also help converting players. I have seen lots of people switch to windows 10 from mobile or console. It does take a while to become fluent with the keys and everything so this would allow all players switching to whatever platform they wish, to be introduced to it in a player friendly way. Mobile players would also be able to get the leader board positions easier since they would be fairer and pc players would have to work towards those positions more which from what I can tell, rubik_cube_man agrees with here:

This is because so many of my games have players on devices which are unable to compete with mouse and keyboard. Even though mobile games with the new system may be slower, I believe they'll still obtain more wins over time due to fights they get into will be more fair. This would also give players using Windows more of a challenge in their regular games too.

If it was switched to skill based matchmaking, you would still be able to play against your opponents from other platforms! It would still be fair since you would be the same skill levels as them (to an extent). It would be able to erase a possible division between platforms, bearing in mind Bedrock was the platform made to bring different platforms together!

But hear there's more! Lots of mobile players are very very talented and amazing at the game considering those players are using a touchscreen. If platform specific games were added, these mobile players would feel that everything has got way too easier for them. From my experience playing with people, players playing on the IOS or Android platform are either very good or the opposite. So mobile players would either find it completely hard or absolutely easy. With skill based matchmaking, these players would be placed into matches which have: an equal amount of challenge and reward! This would drastically remove a potential skill gap in a platform specific game. (The same applies for console and PC).

Note: These are just my opinions on the matter and what I think, but whatever happens it will be in the interest of most players like cube does. :)

I don’t really like this idea because the point of bedrock is allowing people on mobile console and PCs play together.Theres tons of sweaty mobiles and console that can easily beat a pc.Some have even killed some of the best PCs.So if there’s an option to turn it off I’ll change my vote to yes.

(This is an opinion totally understandable if you don't support it)

This is a similar change a few years ago when Cubecraft allowed 1.8 and 1.9 pvp, but on 2 different servers. Here the skill base was also changed and I personally think this change has affected the decrease in player count.

I fully support the intention to make it fairer but I think it is better to leave it as it is now despite the unfair advantages.

There are quite a few mobile players who can definitely keep up with the skill base at the moment. These are mainly the people who put time into this server to get better. If you put these mobile players against other mobile players where no PC players are mixed it will be less difficult for mobile devices to dominate the leaderboards. For the PC on the other hand this will be a lot more difficult so they will go back to Java edition or in the bad case another server.

I just don't understand why you would change something that in itself goes well as it is now. I know that no decision has been made yet, but I wanted to mention it anyway.

What I also wanted to say is if your pc players makes it harder and mobile makes it easier then you have another unfair competition. This is hard to stabilize so I personally think you will leave it that way. Cubecraft bedrock has become big because of the fun games, updates, competition would you risk adding something that could have a bad effect?

-(This opinion is more competitive viewed)

:redsus: GOOD NEWS EVERYBODY! :bluesus:

We've just released our first prototype of this system onto the SkyWars Knockback Test game. This system will now group you with other people on the same input device as you (touchscreen, controllers or mouse & keyboard). Queue times might be slightly longer, however we've put a lot of effort into the system to ensure that queue times remain as short as possible. This system will automatically de-active itself if it notices that the queue times are getting too long for a game, however looking at the SkyWars Knockback Test games, we believe that this will only happen for a few quiet hours in the morning.

I want to also take this opportunity to reply to some of your suggestions that you've listed above:
i dont think this would be good, i like to play aganinst PC players, i feel a bigger challenge, but if cubecraft could add something on the settings menu, to acctivate & desactvate this thing.

also, what about people that use controler on their phones? and people on xbox that connect a mouse and keyboard? or even people on PC that preefers playing on controler(for some reason)?

the idea of this is acctualy good, but i dont think i would like that much, but if they add a setting to acticvate and desactvate this, i would 100% like it
We considered a setting however we felt that too few people would want to use it. The new system provides a lot of mobile users now have a significantly higher chance of winning, and provides Mouse and Keyboard users, a much more challenging game that doesn't feel so easy to win every time. As a result of this, we felt that too few people would not want to use this system, and as a result would make this setting not really work.

Skill based matchmaking!

Not only this, it would fix the problems of platform specific games, that people have mentioned, without losing too many benefits. For example one of the pros Younisco mentioned was the mobile players would have easier competition and pc players would have more of a challenge.
A skill based matching system is an Amazing idea! The problem however is that it's a lot more complicated to develop. Each player would have to have a bunch of skill ratings, and we'd then need to figure out how to match people up with similar skill levels, so the games are still challenging, but not impossible. This would likely result in a complete change of how our server joining system works (You would likely have to end up in a Queue world, rather than just being sent straight to a server). A ranked matchmaking system also typically requires a lot more players to work to it's full potential, as you need to run games with as little variation in players skill levels as possible.
However, all hope is not lost! We really want to do ranked games! These will likely be smaller games than normal, which will help combat this queue times issue, and will also enable us the ability to fully engineer the system around player ranking. Currently most of our systems don't really support ranked based games, however this is something we really want to do. (For reference we haven't had the opportunity to start developing this system yet, so will be a long way off)

Would it be possible for a console or touchscreen player to join a game with their default input device, and once inside the game connect a keyboard and mouse? (I don't know if I explain myself) xd

Why not an option because not every mobile or controller needs it.I’m just not gonna have that much competition because when I fight PCs it’s quite fun and exciting now I can’t do that.

OK HOLD UP HERES MY FEEDBACK
1.so, as a mobile player just a few months ago (I’m now on pc) if this was implemented I would have completely destroyed everybody thus making it easier for me to get to the leaderboard. Also making it more boring to me.
2. A lot of people I see voting yes are java players who suck at mobile on there iPhones so I don’t think they should be the ones voting
3. Some Xbox players are just little fortnight players who just settled down to play mc and suck and are worse then mobile players, and there’s also pc players that java bridge, etc. so platform is not always skill dependent.
4. I like the idea of input based matchmaking, but I don’t think it’s possible especially with iPhones as you would have to know whether they have a usb or Bluetooth plugged into there device which apple would not like and some people have privacy settings for Minecraft turned off so it would be a whole issue of privacy so I don’t think u would be able to know if they have a Bluetooth controller with their iPhone.
5. IN CONCLUSION:
I believe that there should be a setting in your player settings that asks you the first time you join the server if you would like to play with everyone, or just your platform, and you would select the option. This would also be toggleable in normal settings. This was it would satisfy everybody as I see nearly 30% of people do not want this, who are mostly bedrock players. So if you wanted to play with everyone you could. I think many people would use this setting. REACT WITH SAD IF YOU HATE THIS AND LIKE IF YOU LIKE THE SUGGESTION
Thank you for coming to my Ted talk

People will use it mostly pros. Why would good players need it.Please add an option or the Hive looks like a better option for me.Also why the hell have Java players voted on this like whhhhyyyyy. This will ruin cubecraft because some java players just can’t get good. Some people who wanna stream snipe on console or mobile nope only PCs.Wanna pvp your friend with the new kB whose on mobile can’t do that anymore.Cubecraft listen this is very bad IDEA and if you add this to all games on the network it will split up cubecraft just like what happened to java when you made 1.8 and 1.9 servers just like how history repeats itself when people don’t learn. Thanks cubecraft for splitting up us now we’ll be doomed like Java edition because some java players can’t get good quite that simple.😡

Also we can’t play with my friends on like the beta which is pretty annoying since most of my friends are PCs like now it’s impossible just to try the new kB with your friends.

This is a big big nooo for me.Your just ruining the play experience because some java players can’t get good at bedrock mobile why not get windows 10 and for us good consoles or mobile don’t you realize some of Cubecraft’s best players are on console or mobile. You just need to practice better and play more then you’ll become a mobile legend.

Honestly, I really dont like it. The new reality is that literally EVERYONE cleans, backstabs and rushes with builder kit. Its just terrible to play (im talking about pc). Its just that all the players use annoying and stupid strategies. Every game you get backstabbed and cleaned 4 times at least and its not fun at all. It is literally impossible to fight someone without some random backstabbing/cleaning you. Thats not about skill, its about being annoying. Fix it, implement some anti-cleaning system or just get rid of this all together
