Java Rank pricing changes for better business.

as people are complaining about poor grammar, allow me to make the rest of this post with 'proper' grammar

So, I have some issues with pricing of the ranks. I used to do logistics for many minecraft servers. I helped them decide what price was right for each rank/whether they should be added. I do not believe any more ranks need to be added, however I am concerned about price.
The prices are currently: (this is excluding the offer that is currently going on.)
Iron - £7.99
Lapiz - £17.99
Gold - £29.99
Diamond - £49.99
Emerald - £89.99
Obsidian - £139.99
(If your currency is different than the former, please convert it and don't get ratty that I didn't convert, I don't have time to do euros, dollars etc.)
Now, the prices for Iron, Lapiz, Gold and Diamond are actually pretty good, however I do not believe Emerald and Obsidian should be so high in price.
This is mainly because after Diamond, the benefits become less and less exciting as you go up. You can only vote for a couple of extra things.

I believe that the new price should be 59.99 for Emerald and 79.99 for obsidian.
There are little to no extra benefits to having these higher ranks. You don't get your moneys worth and that can be bad for business. I suggest that you change the price to something more reasonable to help with sales for the higher ranks.

and get way less a rank? i dont see why it should get changed really. lets say they sell 10 obsidian ranks a day=10x140.00x7=9.800 a week. if it’d get changed and they sell 15 a day=15x80x7=8400

So what does your professional hypixel manager opinion have to say about that? If you are going to suggest such a controversial change, you might as well consider all possible outcomes and reactions to better support your suggestion. I think a manager on a server with 65k people would have thought of that... Then again maybe you are lying about that too... :thinking:

You seem to be equating the value of those purchased ranks to the value of the extra perks that they have, basically only concentrating on the percieved value of those ranks .
However:
Emerald and obsidian ranks allow users to show how much they support the server.
It allows users that want to show off to be higher up in the tab rankings. Having a rank at a higher price can nudge someone into thinking that the £50 rank isn't as expensive as opposed to if the £50 rank was the highest option.

I believe the argument that it's 'unfair' is completely incorrect and wrong. They bought the rank for its price at the time. They got what they wanted for the price they agreed to pay on. I don't believe it's unfair for anyone if it became more cheap. It's like if you bought the rank on-sale and other didn't, that is practically the same thing as lowering the price, except the "sale" is permanent.

Let me put it like this: If you bought OverWatch when it first came out for $60, but a year or two later, it became $40. Is that unfair? I wouldn't say so.
It happens all the times with a lot of games, or even products in general. Prices will drop after a while if a company believes that it's not making enough money. But that only happens if they believe lowering its cost will be better and bring more gain.

Iron used to be $20 and now it's $10, I don't see anyone complaining about it being unfair. Because it's not.


From my point of view, having emerald is almost worth it for its price, but obsidian is definitely not. Instead of lowering the price, I think we should try to give it more perks. Except.. all the perk ideas others and myself have suggested, are not taken into consideration.

Emerald rank and obsidian ranks are the most that get bought. I think they can lower the price a bit but not that much. I think you get a lot for the emerald rank. But i think its better to low it with 20 or 30 meby for the obsidian rank. And i think its better to add first more for the obsidian ranks than lower the price. You dont get a lot more for emerald to obsidian
You can fly with both
You can still buy plus with both.
So there is not much more.

I think the player base should have a word in a lot of things regarding the server, but we should keep our hands of store prices. Sure, we can say certain items are too expensive but we shouldn't go around suggesting new prices. I'm sure CubeCraft, as a company, has specific reasoning as to why the current prices are what they are

Thanks for your concern, we are quite happy with our pricing structure right now. The lowest rank is a very cost effective way to get access to a bunch of useful perks without breaking the bank. The higher priced ranks are highly priced for a reason, exclusivity, and the best value ranks are somewhere in the middle ground.

I dont think obsidian is for players who want all of the special perks. Obsidian is for people who want to support the server, and want a tiny bit of extra cool gadgets in reward. I also think that the abillity to fly, to get a ton of extra gadgets, get easy Uber cubelets every month, and the ability to get tons of super cubelets every two weeks or so is a fair trade.

No, it is fair. Discounts are fair. I don't see how are they unfair...

the price can be reduced slowly, and players will be warned about the prices, also the players with already obsidian or emmerald rank can get some exclusive reward or something
