Dear Space Tourists,
External communities of CubeCraft Games are all trash.
I too, was startled for a second when writing down the phrase. Is it true? Yes...? No...? I think it is, I've been part of communities and staff teams of multiple external communities now and none of them were... perfect... Though is it possible to have a perfect external community? Again, I must answer my own question with no, it is not.
But what about CubeCraft Universe?
Ever wondered what is happening behind the scenes? Did you know that the Staff Galaxy exists? "What's the story?" is what some of you may have asked yourselves multiple times already and more of you probably will soon. Well, this article introduces you to the Staff Galaxy of CubeCraft Universe.
History & Development
On the 25th of August 2021, the formation CubeCraft Universe began, as the idea was shared and members were invited to join the staff team. A merge was proposed and 3 communities became CubeCraft Universe: Tower Defence CC, CubeCraft Games: Lucky Islands, and CubeCraft SkyWars Community. This resulted in 3 planets being released alongside the Discord server on the 22nd of September: the Tower Defence, Lucky Islands, and SkyWars planets.A second server named CCU Staff Galaxy was created 2 months later. We noticed we couldn't keep up with the developments of CCU using the few staff channels in the server. This was also what marked a management change within the staff team: departments were contemplated. These departments help the Commanders of CCU to stay organised and efficient.
Commanders? This is Discord, not a superhero comic book!
Well, a theme is a theme right? This applies to the Staff Galaxy too. But to continue this article, please give me the opportunity to elaborate on departments. There's 5 of them at the time of writing, described and explained below:Community
This department is focused on you, the community itself. The planets are the department's babies; they are the primary objective of the Community team. The Commanders also manage Game Ambassadors, for each existing planet, Ambassador positions are available. But that's not all, there's so much more to the beauty of serving the community in such a direct way:Interacting with the community (Chat Revive messages)
Mini-events to increase activity
Daily question, fact, and quote
Too good to be true right? Well, no. In this case it isn't:A Glimpse of the Community department, cute idea CrystalDrop!
Moderation
Moderating a server surely isn't the easiest job. In contradiction, I personally think it's the second hardest job available. After all, as a Moderation Commander you are not only managing and training the moderators of the server. Think about working with a ticket system or other form of staff help, creating rules and guidelines, setting up moderation processes, and handling the appeals.Events
In my opinion the hardest department to manage, Events... surprised? Sometimes it might seem like it's easy, just hosting a few events here and there, doing some calculations if it's a tournament, and done. Wrong! What about participation, scheduling, announcements, 20 ways of hosting a tournament, the technical side go smoothly and tons of other unforeseen situations? That's right, hardest department it is...Discord
Knowledge is key. At least for this department, it is. Being a Commander and working in this department is quite difficult, Discord is bigger than you think. As an easy example, managing the Science Officers, our bot development team, doesn't only require managing skills but a way of communication too. They have their own language, their own way of saying things: a server for them is a guild! Weird right? As if they live in medieval times. Anyways, apart from the developing team they also lead the designer team and should have knowledge about all other aspects related to the technical side of Discord.Quality & Welfare
A fancy name and also one of the most important departments. When this was created, I didn't expect the department to grow so big. There's so many things to be done when looking after the staff team. That's what this department is about: making sure the staff team releases quality content, stays motivated and dedicated, and above all else? That they have fun and enjoy what they do! Not to speak about entertainment, applications and internal communication...Launching an Update
Now you know a bit more about the different departments and what they're about. However, the question remains: how would those departments work together, and how would they release a feature or update? Here's your answer: various departments work together to get the content out in the best way achievable! Let's break it down into steps, that might be easier for you to understand:
- A staff member has an idea and works out a written suggestion
- The staff member proceeds to make a thread with a clear title and describes their suggestion
- The Commanders involved the closest will review the suggestion and most likely give the green light
- The staff member proceeds to contemplate their idea and creates various requests for other departments to work on
- When the project is ready for release, there's some final checks by the involved Commanders and an announcement is written
- The project is launched and announced in CubeCraft Universe!
A Glimpse of the To Do list of the Community department, you seem busy SeemsLegit!
Conclusion
Thanks for reading this far, must've taken a while. Now I have a question for you: what topics would you want to have discussed in our possible next edition of "A Glimpse of the Staff Galaxy"? We would be more than happy to satisfy your needs! If anything, we are here for you, the community. Any questions are welcome too, don't hesitate to ask them in the comments!Kind Regards,
